Didn't the AFL stagger the roll out for the AFLW because it couldn't accomodate all the teams from the first year and Fremantle got their team first because they and the AFL couldn't stand the idea of West Coast being first at something again and needed an angle to make them look more relevant as an organisation? I highly doubt it was a matter of us not applying or making some kind of a statement against women's sport.
