Query here :-

If Corbett had held / paid front on contact in the marking contest, then converted the kick with 2 majors. Would that have changed our perception of Corbett’s game ?.

Sliding Doors moments.
I've seen a replay twice. He wasn't too bad considering we seemed to be kicking deep into congestion and just trying to bring the ball to ground. I wouldn't play him before a fit Taberner, but he was perfectly serviceable.

He was playing against one of the worst teams in the history of the AFL for context though.

Everyone else seemed to dine out on them

Walters free to play. Dodged a bullet....expected a week....
Proof that the MRO has no clue.

The one tackle that should have been suspended, wasn’t.

Out: Walters (suspended) Corbett
In: Banfield, Reidy

I really want to see what Treacy, Amiss & Sturt look like as full time forwards against decent opposition without Treacy having to go into the ruck.
Reidy can give Jackson a decent chop out in the ruck and also kicked a great goal from deep in the pocket for peel, let’s see what he’s got at AFL level.
Banfield plays better as a medium forward, not as 3rd tall.
Every game Amiss, Sturt and Treacy can play together is like gold at this stage. The real game experience now, hopefully a full preseason (🪵) and into a new season to build that synergy.

I watched the last half of this game. That midfield is going to be Judd/Cousins/Kerr like soon.
Those three young guys are the business

We have our own 3, Serong, Brayshaw, Young. Rozee, Butters, JHF are having a better season this year. But I’d back our 3 to be the equal over their careers.

Being realistic, I think their's are better. Rozee has a level we dont quite have and Butters is Serong but with more speed, who knows where JHF ends up. Where we have an edge is they dont have anything that looks like a Unicorn and Marshall is handy but not on the same level as Amiss

Is it realistic or grass is greener? So hard to compare really, especially as a group. Money in the bank says Brayshaw has an MVP and Serong a RSA. Certainly the leadership and consistency plumps with ours at this stage.

Realistic IMO, we've bemoaned our midfield set up most of the year and Port are a top 4 side with their strongest area of the ground based on the players mentioned. JHF has a long way to go to catch up to Young I suppose. Ours are still very very good but I'm not sure any team in the comp has a midfield group as good as them. Jackson/Darcy can be the difference that make it better all round - Cox was just as important as Judd/Cousins/Kerr and Port dont have anyone like that

Brayshaw 2022 was players MVP. Butters was tracking towards that this year but has slowed down. Rozee is also elite. Perhaps passing Butters.

Though Brayshaw is down this year, he seems to have found his groove again. I’m looking forward to watching it live.

The introduction of Young to the midfield has given me hope we match them in every aspect. I was waiting on Johnson to pop like JHF. Now I think Johnson becomes the 4th mid. Erasmus is super close too.

I think we bat deeper and are just as good a trio.

love watching the port boys do their thing, they certainly have some qualities that ours dont, goal kicking is an obvious one, butters is also an elite kick he pulls off some absolutely ridiculous kicks under pressure and JHF has that dangerfield-esque burst that serong/brayshaw lack
