Disappointing to lose but still a lot to like.

We mixed it with a premiership contender on their home ground with a 21 to 13 free kick armchair ride in their favour.

Some standout performances with the usual suspects in Marshall, Sinclair and Wilkie, Nas another standout he just gets better and better, elite player.

The downside was that we had too many players below their best and Hayes wasn't as good as I hoped he would be but Sharman wasn't great either.

It will be an interesting selection dilemma for our first final of who to select out of Hayes or Sharman up forward, both King and Membrey will be locks.

Byrnes gave us a lot when he came on. Going to be very hard to leave him out now.

He gets first crack. Hunter Clark looked so slow against the quicker Lions mids. Maybe send Hunter back to the sub.

But we put him back out after a head knock? Was that ok according to the rules?
No we didn't. Was out there, looked ok, reassessed at ht and found to have delayed symptoms.
Don't listen to the dopey commentators
They want to lynch us but say nothing to a blatant shoulder to Battles head by Hipwood.
Remember if you hit the head it was your responsibility?
Apparently not if you are Sydney or Brisbane.

Reckon he’s the type to want the weight of winning our first premiership since the Palaeolithic Era. Huge swingers on him

He still looks about 12 years old. Imagine when he's 25 yo and 92kgs. He'll be a beast. He's got a real big dog vibe going on. He's the opposite of those Billings era guys who were taught to piss themselves at loud noises from playing in a shit side under a shit coach. Lyon knows how to extract the best from players and he's got plenty of scope to be special.

Don't think it was that bad, he wasn't knocked out. We easily could have kept playing with him for the rest of the game, but our Doctors clearly pulled the pin. Handled well I reckon.
AFL Concussion protocol is that you can't play till the 12th day after you get concussed. Even if we cop the Thursday final that will be 12 days so from that perspective Battle would be good to go.

Will likely have Seb Ross to consider also

And then we probably have to make the call between Hayes and Sharman

A few tough selection decisions to make

To me Sharman offers something different to the true KPs. Hayes probably goes out after Membrey stepping up. If Ross is fit HC goes out Byrnes to sub.

Might be neither of them.

It wouldn't surprise me to see King, Membrey and Caminiti.

Overall a solid performance - just got trapped in the Lions forward half to much.

When we got through we looked damaging. A few frustrating issues - but overall not overawed.

You know we did OK today when Brisbane supporters are getting shirty, they expected to flog us and they just escaped with a win with the umpires help.

They aren't as good as they think they are, we mixed it with them without King and they were full strength, I'm predicting another finals flop for them.

Sharman's mobility probably gets him over the line. Plus, being able to go back or run on the wing adds some good flexibility.

As good as having a 2nd ruck would be, Hayes looked a bit slow in his decision making at times as he adjusts to the faster level. It will go up another level in finals.

Hayes will be better for the run but his rucking probably doesn't advantage enough to take out Sharman.

Not bad. Not great either. Brisbane could have iced it earlier but we hung around. The young guys all played well. Marshall huge. Wilkie very good. NWM keeps the form going.

Would like to think we kept some stuff up the sleeve, but that might be wishful thinking. Couple of weeks rest might work wonders. Steele still sore? Been a very curious year from him. Good to see Hayes getting some touches. Tough comeback game.

For the youngest guy in the last draft the Pou has done unbelievably well. Played every game despite being tipped for a rest every week. Ross intent on pumping games into him. Byrnes might have stamped himself as the sub. Good third quarter.

Hopefully a home final coming up. We deserve one.
Good serious lead up game into the finals so the kids get a taste. Better than the practice drill the Pies had I think.
