Autopsy Round 24, 2024 - Saints defeat Boos

For anyone upset with our current draft hand; we got Phillipou at Pick 10, Wanganeen-Milera at Pick 11 and Wilson at Pick 18.

Billings was Pick 3, McCartin was Pick 1. There's no guarantees in drafting.

I will take THAT win every day of the week. Wins like that build cultures. This is a team that wants to win no matter what.

I blame us beating Geelong more than beating the Boos today. Geelong finished 3rd they should have beaten us.

Can never be a bad day beating that shower of sh*t in the last minute. We've got a lot of upside with our kids with at least another to be added if not 2 depending on Battles decision.

I want Battle to stay so I hope his 50/50 call lands with us but if not we move on.

Serious question, where is George?
Came back, the other week, abused a few members here and was perma banned by the Bigfooty gods.
Saw none of it and a few said he was full of Dutch courage.

Another 20 for Pou.
Not as good as prior but backed up and had another three shots on goal and should have finnished with 3.

9 tackles and 7 marks.
Imagine when he fills out.
Awesome to have him and Wilson as goal kicking mids. Owens to be the third.

Think he was playing forward for much of the day so harder to have impact.

For a season where we went backwards on the ladder I think we've gone forwards in what we could be.
Pou has gone up a level. Looked every bit a goal kicking mid at the ground tonight. Was a nearly game and he still had 20 and 4 shots at goal.
Wilson looks everything advertised and more. Goal kicking midfielder.
Henry exceeded expectations. Again, goal kicking half forward /mid
Hugo is going to be a serious player
Sharman has gone up a level
Naz has gone up a level
Hammer took half a step
Only Mitch didn't step up this year from the youngsters.

Very good second half of the year bar the lions game. Nail this off season and we've got a shot in the future.

Christ, don't mention the moon...it causes despair amongst those that don't understand how nature works.

Not often you can make 40,000 people sad in one moment.
Free kicks were 11 to 1 and they were complaining, then it went 2 to 11 and nadda silence.
That water bottle thrown sums up their supporters......whinge moan and take it out on the one bloke who makes no on field decisions.

They are flogs.

Oh and I would rather have a later pick than be like GCS Melb North and WCE rolling over and not caring about your performance.

These guys get paid on average $20k a GAME..a game, they should play out every minute of every game....because that's what winners do.

When they got in front I turned to my girlfriend and said we'll win it with under a minute to go... I guarantee it.

Bloody hilarious
Sully......are you able to very quietly advise this weeks OZ lotto numbers?

I salute you !!!!!!

I’m a neutral with a slight leaning towards the saints due to mutual failures over a long period.

But I’m far from a saints supporter so enough to be objective.

My god that commentary on fox was an outright disgrace. They couldn’t have barracked for the blues any harder and then “Siren! The sinking feeling of despair!”

Are you serious? That was a disgrace. Should be celebrating the wonderful effort of Higgins and the saints rather than lamenting that the Blues lost. My god it was embarrassing.

Yeah the commentators shamelessly barracking for Carlton in that game was disgraceful but it just made that win all the sweeter.

I was on the fence about a win or a loss but their biased commentary along with the biased umpiring made me want a win.

It wasn't just a win for us it was a win for football in general to see us overcome the bias that has crept into AFL these days.

**** that was epic. Pou was huge for his first game back. We have one there, he is going to be a star for us. Loved Sharman again too.

The midfield just needs a few little tweeks and it will be humming. Hugo really good again after coming on.

That was probably Battle's worst game in a long time. Has been in an amazing run of form. If we get pick 8 for him it's a huge steal. Will be a long month of discussion about it that's for sure, many melts will occur.

We need to bottle that win and our form from recent weeks and really kick off next season in top gear. We've shown we are good enough to compete nearly every week. Let's really build on this.

The draft pick difference is negligible. Anyone thinking we'd have been better of losing that is way off the money.

Crushing other teams dreams is loser mentality. We aren't making finals, how does other teams hurting help us? We are the loser who gets enjoyment out of other people's misery because we never achieve anything ourselves.

We need to do the best for us and winning wasn't the best for us. In fact, today did nothing but push us further away from a flag and I want to bloody well see one in my lifetime.

Say goodbye to the elite guys pushing for a #1 pick spot in FOS, Jagga, Smillie, Lalor or Draper. May as well have pick 15 now. Only difference between the team that actually has 15 and us is they'll be playing finals.

Again, zero enjoyment from winning in August when it means nothing but a flattering win loss record in a season that let us all down.

Absolute amateur hour if we are celebrating anything from this year and embarrassing to let other clubs live in our heads so much that seeing them lose means more than securing one of the elite draftees for our future.

Makes me sick seeing Filth supporters and the likes celebrating this win, pathetic. If we ain't in the finals we may as well be last. I'm sick of this I truly am, we never do what's best for us.

Remember in 2014, when we did what's "best for us" and got the number 1 pick? That worked out real well.

There are no guarantees in drafting. Last years Brownlow medallist (Lachie Neale) was Pick 58. Patrick Cripps, the favorite for this years Brownlow, was Pick 13. Other favorites for the Brownlow this year include; Zach Merrett at Pick 26, Errol Gulden at Pick 32, Tom Green at Pick 10, Chad Warner at Pick 39, Caleb Serong at Pick 8.

Our best players? Jack Sinclair was in the rookie draft, Rohan Marshall was in the rookie draft, Callum Wilkie was in the rookie draft. Jack Steele was Pick 24. Darcy Wilson, one of the best first year players this year, was Pick 18.

Look how happy the boys were after the game. Wins like this build cultures, they build unity and they keep the players invested and believing in Ross Lyon (and the game plan). They can take this into pre-season and launch at 2025.

Do we need elite talent? Absolutely.

But there's no guarentee we'd get that at Pick 5, just as there's no guarentee we'd get that at Pick 7. Enjoy the win.
