Geelong are a back half team that want to run lanes up the ground. The way to kill that is with manic forward pressure.

The land of the giants setup provides nothing at all on that front, and Geelong get to play a effectively training session on their terms as a result.

At least this will put the nail in the chances of J.Schofield getting the job - the club needs to bring in somebody with a completely different tactical approach, that acknowledges where the game is going, and that everything is now circling back to being about generating pressure and pace.

How do people not understand that a caretaker coach can't just magically transform a team mid season. The poor habits, strategy and effort is already ingrained into the players from consecutive years prior. You can't build a new strategy out of nothing midseason, weekly training is about recovery there's no time to drill a new game plan. The way we play and lack of clear strategy is at the hands of simmo.

The only thing schofield can effectively do is drive the players attitude and effort which he's had both success and failure in his tenure, but you can hardly blame him today when we have always travelled poorly to Geelong. That is a systemic failure of the club that has been present for 20 years and has never been addressed.

The nail in the coffin for Schoey was last week when he failed to get the boys up for gaffys fairwell at home against a debilitated Carlton squad. Need a completely clean uncorrupted head who's never worked under simmo who can drive standards and be unbiased with delistings. Need someone to drive standards with the seniors, if they can't buy into it they don't deserve contracts.
