Sweet.

And he'll replace Ceglar, so play 30% ruck?

Would we have won if Tobby was playing across the HFF, Worpel played off the bench to relieve Titch, and Howe was the sub thingy?

I don’t know how you walk away from that game and think we’re bottom 4.
Let me clarify.

I think Cats are currently a 6-8 team.
Hawks most likely will lose more than we win and close games probably on the losing end.
We have a group of young players still learning their craft and will struggle to put 4 quarters together.
However it is critical we stick with the younger brigade going forward.
We are missing Gunston for a large chunk of season , no Sicily and now Day injured - our depth will be tested.
Maybe with rose colored glasses I think we could push 9-13....doubtful we are top 8 material (yet)
This is purely my opinion but I believe we would be better served by ending up 15-18 than 9-14
We are 2-3 young high end players off being contenders.
You will say “it’s only Rnd 3 ? Heaps of games to play out” and I totally agree.
Results are what we play for but games into our young players is critical.
Brockman, CJ, Lewis, Morrison, Scrimshaw, Kosi, Downie...etc ...to play as many games this year together as they set up a future platform for greater things.

I guess I’m kind of a glass half empty type and my intentions are solely on Hawks getting more silverware soon.

Look at teams like Port(lesser degree Swans)they did it tough for awhile but are bearing the fruits of the short term pain.
There will be exceptions...ie Blues , Saints & GWS ...but Hawks know how to reach the top.

Only my 2 cents

(which when you think about it, gets rounded down ...which is zero....so my opinion is actually worth nil)

Sad for the result. Thoughts:

- I get that people will be frustrated with Howe's game. As much as there were times that frustrated me, there were just as many times where i was in awe of his courage. For mine, he's the very definition of an 'edge' player (tech nerds will back me here!)
- There were a tonne of positives with respect to development. Scrimshaw made all the right decisions underpressure, CJ continued his growth, etc.
- The spearheads hadn't played together much and it showed. There was a time in the 2nd (or 1st?) quarter where Lewis and Kosi ran to the exact same spot, only to spoli each other and Geelong to mark. They'll learn in time. The sun definitely impacted them in the first quarter (esp. Kosi I think).
- Great to have Chad back. There's no subsitute for class.
- Another great game from Hardwick.
- Haritgan was found out early, but came back strong. It's important to have someone who can run with the gorillas.
- Worpel had a challenging game, but to my eye, he was not short on effort. A work in progress.

In short, a solid effort, let down by cohesion in the forward line. A lot of development to look forward to.
Akida ?

For 13 years the high ball to Nooneinpaeticular hasn't worked against Geelong and yet Clarkson still either, a) thinks it's a winning strategy, or b) can't figure out Geelong's defensive unit weakness/es.

It's worry that when every other winning team is winning through having their forwards leading up to the ball, while our are instructed to park themselves 15m out from the goal and told to wait for the ball to come to them.

We matched it or beat Geelong everywhere except in F50 efficiency and that's why we lost.

This is is main reason we lost today!

Enjoyed watching most of the game. Thought the team in general played reasonably well. Some poor choices, and poor execution, but otherwise quite pleasing. The Fight and comeback was very enjoyable. If the "touched" decision had gone our way would have been a draw.

Also very much enjoyed watching Geelong demonstrate they are a very average side. They will not make top 4 this season

One of my old Bosses is a mad Scats fan and use to give it to me during the curse years. One day after a close lose, he joyfully asked me, so when do you ever think you guys will beat us again.

I replied, next time we play you in a granny like 89 and 08! He replied, fair point and walked off!!!
any cut throat final my friend, any cut throat final....argument killer right there.

This sort of game makes me wonder how long we have to wait for Scrimshaw to see centre bounce minutes. Bloke has agility and the innate ability to make himself space in congestion. He is exactly the opposite of our midfield mix and is not afraid of laying good tackles etc., is it the tank or am I missing something? He would also help our ability to hit lead up forwards if he got on the end of a couple of handball receives at centre clearances.

Thought Morrison was nice today and CJ made zero errors leading to scores I think (also gave hawkins' phat a' a spray as he completely burnt him trying to get back on the mark 😎😎😎👌)

Not usually one to think too deeply on this, but think we should be careful with our comments re Howe.
Not saying he reads this, but worth remembering nobody on here would be feeling worse about what happened out there today.
They all f*^k up, some more than others, it’s just unfortunate re the timing
