Thats just hit outs % across a game, not hit outs to advantage

Hitouts to adv is below via individual rucks, you can clearly see as a main ruck he is one of the worst in the comp so far this reason (albeit small sample size)

This is a hill I'm willing to die on, he simply isn't good enough in the ruck and especially around the ground.

Do Hitouts to Advantage only register if a teammate takes possession of the ball ? As bad as our midfield looked yesterday at the centre bounce it seemed way worse the week before when every time we scored a goal Bombers waltzed it out for an immediate reply.

Butler is easily the quickest small forward on the list. It might be time to play him. The lack of speed in the forward-line is an issue.
It’s the least of issues to be honest.

We need mids with speed and movement.

Out - Gunston, Breust, Maginness
IN - Mitchell, Phillips, Hustwaite

Would love to see Meek come in for Reeves, but I doubt that is going to happen. Reeves may actually be able to use his one and only strength this week against Blicavs and Stanley. If he has another ineffectual game then he simply has to be dropped.

Geelong have good group of small forwards in Close, Miers, Stengle and Dempsey. Henry is a dangerous medium forward too. We will need Mitchell, Hardwick, D'Ambrosio and Impey to cover them.

Frost and Phillips to Cameron and Hawkins respectively.

Not sure who can play on Stewart and stop him doing whatever he wants. I was thinking maybe Nash to play a tagging-esque role, but I'm not sure who I'd take out for him.

Mitchell - Frost - Hardwick
Sicily - Phillips - Scrimshaw

Reeves - Newcombe - Worpel
Weddle - Mackenzie - Amon

Moore - Lewis - MacDonald
Watson - Chol - Ginnivan

Bench:
Impey - D'Ambrosio - Ward - Hustwaite

Sub:
Nash
Weddle for Stewart. He would at least respect the threat he brings. Can go with him on the ground and in the air. Best like for like we have for him.

Box hill in, Hawthorn out

Hope Mitchell is watching the way box hill are playing- taking the game on and putting the opposition under pressure

Bailey McDonald so great with run and carry. Meek making a case to come in for Reeves…

This is the issue with bringing our best VFL mid into the team. As promising as he is, he's not quick. We have Mackenzie starting to show what he can do, but we need at least one other mate for him with wheels and zip around the ball

I wonder if Seamus is going to get called into the middle at some stage. We love him behind the ball, but he's the one with skills and toe, and he looked like he'd have the game to become a mid when drafted.

What in any world is hit out win % got to do with anything? It just means u touch the ball first

He touches the ball first and doesnt tap it to advantage so whats the point?

He needs to bring pressure if he wants to get in/stay in the side - being able to apply tackles will be massive for him

Winning a hitout takes one person (Reeves) to get it. Hitout to advantage takes Reeves and the midfield group.
Reeves can be hitting it to our advantage consistently but if our mids are slow to react or not able to block an opponent for our mid to get free hands to it, then its not Reeves' fault.

I agree with you to some extent but the issue is if his sole purpose is to hit out to advantage (and his assumed strength) then why is he in the team?

He gives us nothing around the ground which can clearly be shown via his stats/to the naked eye

Was having a similar thought as well. Could Scrimshaw do the job? Bring in Phillips, send Hardwick back and move Scrimshaw to lock down Stewart.

Meek BOG. Is it enough to put selection pressure on Reeves for Easter Monday?

Watch us name him as sub for the trifecta of shit sub decisions.
