Round 3 Trades

Havent traded till this week and despite my mistake in not selecting Cox and going cheap in the rucks, Ive conceded I needed to get Cox in my team.

OUT - Fevola. IN - Hill

OUT - Luenberger. IN - Cox



Its two trades Id rather not done, but my bench is moneymaker with Rioli, Masten, Palmer, Houli, Hampson, Jetta and Tippet. So I feel I can afford to take 2 right before the price changes.

nah mate if your scoring 1,850's there is no way you will push your way up to the top 1000... it wont matter how much money you have because your so far behind champ.... there is no guraentee the people you choose will dominate as much as you think they will... keep dreaming champ...

Okay let me re-assess it..maybe top 10,000 hehehe and win my league...

Well after hearing all negative feedback on my strategy..just go S.Fisher..

What's more important is my league? so I expect to lose first 2 games..and hopefully win at the end...bugger..always next year..hehehe

I'm still worried by Masten though. He is an in and under player and just looks way too small to me. That role doesn't seem possible with his current body, and on that alone I'm concerned he might not see many games this season.

I might have to let him be and wait for a real standout midfield rookie to emerge (maybe Cotchin or Grimes perhaps?) or to be proven wrong (hopefully).

Anyone got any more thoughts on Masten at all?

I got the same problem with Masten. I could trade him for geary this week or wait till next week to trade him for palmer if he hasnt been selected. Only problem is that palmer will be rested every 2-3 weeks and geary shuld continue playing

No doubt geary has been excellent so far but by no means is he asured to play all year.
with goddard now back and Maguire to come back in the following weeks competeition is going to be strong.
Already Raph, Charlie, Fiora, Armitage, Clinton jones, are on the outer looking in.
Gilbert looks to have secured a spot in the 22,
obviously gram, fisher, max are all mainstays as will be goddard and maguire when there back.

So i think he will be in the boat with other rookies, a bad game or two and he could be dropped.

*really hope he keeps it up tho*

i have 309k in my salary cap plus raines' value which means i can get any backman that i would like.

My original thoughts were to get milburn and hav a bit of money spare for other trades but im not sure

My team has been excellent so far but my young Mids are worrying me. The other 3 rookie types: Bird, Masten and Houli need to deliver - esp if Palmer will be rested regularly.

I don't think Houli meets his hype (although I actually think his Geelong game was a huge improvement r1 when he strangely won the rising star).

Bird is probably lucky because when Roos gives you a chance he can be very loyal, I'm praying that means he will get more than a fair go this season.

Masten I think is too small, although in future he may well be an absolute star.

That leaves me with one rookie mid (Palmer) who is playing well, and might be rested regularly - I am starting 2 in my 22 atm.

That's why the sideways rookie trade almost looks attractive to right now. Morton appears set for a regular game at Melbourne and is due to rise consistently in price. Tuck looks very good but my question is will he fit in the full strength Hawthorn side? Geary has massive competition; Lonergan looks impressive but for some reason I feel he might not get the chance he deserves (lots of time on bench often means you are first to go - no matter what); and Kieren Jack I just haven't seen enough of.

That's why I've been itching to jump on Cale Morton, although obviously there are a few guns in waiting hopefully due to debut in the next 4-6 weeks (my consolation).

I have Hansen (NM) and Meyers(Ess) on the bench as my hopeful cash cows with proud and Pfieffer on the gorund for me currently.

I see that Meyer is listed to come back in a week? Is he worth holding onto, as he appeared a certain starter from his pre-season form?

Does Hansen look like getting any game time, as at start of season I read he was being looked at for more time upfield (wing)?

I am not really bothered about where I finish nationally, just as long as I win my league to shut my brother up, but it can be a bit hard following form of the rookies/fringe players from London hey!

Basically, what are people's thoughts on using a trade this week to out Meyer/Hansen to pick up Brown (coll) or Taylor(Cats) or save the trade and see what happens?

I'm always wary of sideways trades like this, I think its a trap waiting to happen. What happens if Brown or Taylor gets dropped? Their spots in their respective teams are far from concrete, and then you'll have either a zero or you'll have to waste another trade to trade them back to someone else.
I wouldn't do it.
Myers is tipped to debut in a few weeks' time. He is a good player, and I'm sure he'll impress us all once he plays. But for now I think I'd hold the trade.

Was heading down that path mate. Cheers for the view - the sideways trade is a trap. I have to admit I did move Sellar (ADE) for Hill(WB) this week, even if it only generates me 100K I thought it was too good a chance to miss.

B4 you ask I had Sellar in as he seemed set to play and was away in the Canary Is. (tough life) and didnt get to switch my rookies before round one. Hence my whole predicament really!

I like the look of Proud but the question is, will Lethal give him more than 15 minutes on the ground this week?

N Brown looks solid and you know he will spend most (if not all) of the game on the park. Doesn't get too many stats but gets good points for off-ball actions.

Not sure of Pfieffer.
