Comment stood out. Wonder if that gets picked up by the media at all.

'Saints captain not taking gather round seriously' or some bullshit.

He's not wrong tho

Criticism of AFL. Reported to Integrity Commission.
2 weeks.

Defence stood up a lot it was really just Bolton who kept them in it,.

Wilkie
Stock
Battle
Bonner (was better)
Cordy

Nas is a freak.

Thought Seb, Steele and Jones really lifted in the second half.
All were great.

I though Pou once again showed some more signs, takcling more.

Need more from butler and Sincs but they're obviously still under done.

Was pretty disappointed with Brad Hill I know he lifted but he cost us a fair few times.

Hggins faught hard and the rest of the forwards to

Also special mention to big Darcy for some big defensive efforts. Think this will do him a world of confidence.

You blokes are a bunch of wet wipes.

Just read the final 13 pages of the game thread and you are all carrying on like sooks.

We had control of that game with about 5 minutes left in the first.

Only reason that wasn’t a comfortable win was goal kicking and Bolton (what a player he is).

For the love of god can we stop playing on grounds suited for under 12s. (Credit to the groundskeeper, unreal job on the grass)
The ground is appalling, not up to AFL standards.
We copied rl but went to a backwater. Absolute joke.

Couple of poor choices in the last qtr nearly cost us.i don’t understand why no one puts there hand up for the ruck if the ruck is not there? R they worried out there own player? Also was a poor decision not to rush that point. But take the win for sure

Ok we are down on personnel as were Tigers - given that context -

Positives - we got the 4 points and showed some fight in the second half

Negatives - how long have we got?

Play like that against GWS with the current crop of players and I will be on the drink before quarter time and checking out the Foxtel movie channel.

Not winning this match without Steele today.
Been highly critical over the years of our leadership but not today. Steele was magnificent.
NWM is a brownlow winner in waiting
Cordy, Battle and Wilkie fantastic down back
Marshall is a 200cm bull mid
Bonners disposal was good today
Wilsons efforts all day really pleasing
Owens struggling early but good fight back

Spend all summer training and developing a game plan for a standard afl ground.

Open with 2 of our first 4 games at grounds where the wings don’t exist.

Anyway, hand on heart I expected a 2-2 start. Being an optimist it was 3-1. Back on track this week.

It's a win.
But there are questions about the hunger and appetite of the list and there at the same time there are questions about the coaching decisions including selections.

If that makes us wet wipes so be it.

Our disposal is appalling. And that has nothing to do with the size of the field.

Had it been any other team we played we would have been 10 goals down at half time. It's only lucky that we were up against a team that was that light on for players as well.

The other extremely noticeable car crash, especially on the first half was how slow we move the ball, just stodgy, side ways, timid and insecure. What happened to this supposed quick side, and all these training drills where you could only hang onto the ball for no longer than 1 to 2 seconds...man we looked ordinary slow and scared to take the game on.

Unless you are calling Richmond the worst side in the league. Its an overreaction to say any other side would have been 10 goals up.

Bolton looked like prime Leigh Matthews out there.

I don’t think there is an issue with appetite or hunger. I’ll give you that I believe we have a few too many kids not taking the game on and being flat footed waiting for a Steele or Sinclair or Marshall or king to do it.

Paints the picture pretty well

We need another pressure forward, we're way too big down forward at the moment. The ball is coming straight back out. Thought today was the perfect day to put Owens into the midfield, especially after the first quarter where we got smashed from stoppage and smashed in contested ball, his talent is wasted as a 3rd knock forward.

Thought the pressure really rose in the 2nd half, opened up the game and started scoring.
I would seriously consider Jack Hayes to help Roh. Think Hammer can take a spell.

Bombing to a stationary King won't get it done, he never seems to lead.

Happy Bonner redeemed himself.

Games like today you doubt the team , however the team dug deep to get the win.

We have a hell of a lot of improvement to do and I fully expect the team will hit straps as the season goes on.
4 games into this season is far to early to make a call on how we are looking.

Not having Wood is a big out for us - people don't realize how much this guy is worth - anyway with Wood , Crouch , Windhager , Howard , Webster , Henry , Clark , Hayes getting back playing the team will look totally different.

What impressed me today was how Battle dominated in the backline - this guy is getting better every year.

Another Saints rollercoaster combined with a ghost train, I was just relieved to get off that ride with a win rather than being excited about it.

A bad first half but at least we responded in the second half to grind out an ugly win, some of our older leaders stood up like Steele, Marshall, Sinclair and Wilkie and some good signs again from our youngsters like NWM, Sharman, Phillipou, Owens and Wilson was good late

We can't get ahead of ourselves though, we'll need to be a lot better against GWS next week to compete with them, they'll give us an audit.

Totally agree with you about Owens , having Crouch , Windhager , Dow currently out I thought today would be the day they let him have a crack.

Anyway I fully expect Hayes to eventually get back into the side to play the forward / ruck role causing Owens to get a crack in the midfield.

Young Darcy Wilson, give you those one on three contests and run down HTB, deep into the 4th qtr because he would have one of the biggest tanks in the league.

His impact on the game aerobic wise, will mirror Banger in his day.
