Stewart out? He beat McDonald. And despite his mistakes don’t think they’ll drop Redman

Yeah as Ant555 has said both Stewart & Laverde rotated but nevertheless imo both are no good down back anyway. We made Weideman look like the 2nd coming of Jason Dunstall! I know Zerk-Thatcher isnt great but he is a genuine defender which Stewart aint. Unless Zach Reid proves otherwise i would be playing Zerk-Thatcher at FB as we dont have anybody else at this point. If Cox is fit to play play him at CHF till Jones comes back. Cox is being completely wasted on the Wing. Redman has been shite for about 3 seasons. He is a turnover king & never beats his opponent. Correct me if im wrong we were in front last Friday night in the 3rd, had the momentum, Redman turns the ball over Bang goal to Melbourne & they go on to kick 3-4 unanswered goals. Killed our momentum. Redman & Heppell were the main culprits in handing Melbourne easy goals from turnovers.

Well Stewart took some decent grabs and Laverde is coming off a terrific season so a little harsh I think. Although I think long term we’re better off if Reid and/or Cox become good KPDs and Stewart back in the forward line

0-3 is obviously bad , but we've seen instances that we can stand with Brisbane and Melbourne just not long enough.

B:Ridley Stewart Kelly
HB:Hind Laverde McGrath
C:Martin Parish Perkins
HF:Snelling Phillips Wanganeen
F: Heppell Wright Stringer
Ruck: Draper Shiel Caldwell
IC:Guefli Hobbs Durham Redman
Sub:Cutler
In: Snelling, Hobbs
Out:Cutler, Ham

I don't know if Heppell can play forward but he's running out of options.

If Snelling isn't fit yet, just Hobbs for Ham. Cutler hasn't been bad but I would be moving him out for Snelling/Hobbs. It could be Guefli instead.

Even though he showed us all something, I have a feeling we'll drop Tex.

Redman has started poorly but was great last year. Didn't he finish 10th or so in our BnF?

Nope.

Unlucky. But yeah, still had a good year IMO

It's pretty kneejerk that both Stewart and Laverde, defenders who would both be depth players to any of the top eight teams yet are best 22 for us because we have nobody else, are getting torched for having bags kicked on them when our supposed star midfielders are defensively contributing two fifths of **** all in the centre. There's a world of difference between how Melbourne was set up to cover the field to stop us moving the ball off half back and whatever it was that we were trying to do out there.

Interesting looking at that list, 4 aren’t playing at the moment, 1’s cooked, 1’s underdone and 1 seemingly out of form, Ridley and Parish the only one’s giving us anything and not sure what to make of Laverde.

He's defending well, but would like to see him on Gollant this week

Last year is rather irrelevant.
Not when someone says he's been crap for 3 years. But I agree, he should go back to the VFL.

Well Wright made May look second rate when we moved the footy quickly that is the key to it.
Laverde has been very good in defense. He has been fine, even more so because often his match up has been 5cm plus taller than him.
Stewart has struggled with quick leading players but has generally been good against the bigger brutes. The whole defense has looked average when we have allowed sides to move the footy quickly without pressure. I actually think the defense has done a miracle job at times given how easily we have let sides run the footy through the middle. Watch any game where sides get good ball movement and you will see defenders getting calved up.
The last part is on the money. The turnovers from Heppell , a couple from Redman and also Hind killed the momentum but that has nothing to do with the ability of Stewart and Laverde.
Redman was not shit last year. He had OP the previous season.

Correct on Redman being shite for 3 seasons

Apologise eth.

But really your fault for not quoting. ;)

Something's just off about the whole team at the moment, but we know they have the capacity to play a shitload better than what they have. I would persist with Redman and gently encourage Hepp to "manage" himself this week with Francis instead playing HB. People have short memories- Remdan was great last year I thought. He's hardly on his own in having a down start to the year.

Getting back to Adelaide v Dons - the bookies have us short favourites to win this one & $1.33 - no idea why it seems like a real 50/50 game to me

I think we will probably win but $1.33 odds (implied 75.19%) are absurd given what we've produced so far.
Adelaide have at least managed to win a game.

That said I suspect Adelaide will be bottom 4 when all is said and done this season.

I'm expecting a scrappy game where we scrape over the line in the end.

Anyone over 23 who's not on a clear upward trajectory or already established as a top level player out of the team and off our list.

Wright came good at 24/25, Langford at 24/25, even Cutler earned his contract extension at 26 and is repaying the faith currently.

Having an arbitrary cut of age is just plain stupid, natural list attrition will take care of the likes of Ham and Guelfi, while genuine quality like McGrath you don't just throw on the scrap heap because he's not currently as good as others from his draft.

Certainly are some difficult decisions that need to be made; Francis, Heppell, Hurley and even paying out Smith for the spot on the list, but these are not decisions that need to be made in round three, so cool your jets.

Redman was great last year. He played that sweeping half back role really well and looked capable of pushing up and kicking a goal often enough too. Definitely would keep persisting with him. Stewart is the bigger worry for me, I'd be giving him a spell and maybe BZT or something gets a look in.
