Coaches would notice though. Hence him keeping his spot
I was typing up a post earlier today (after the game) about how exciting this years Best And Fairest will be, I never posted it but the gist was that most years you've got a pretty good idea of who will win, who will be top 5, but this year it isn't obvious and there's about 7 or 8 players each week that deserve a 3, 2, 1 vote.

I think it will be a must watch night, hopefully a real celebration of the club.

Top 5 right now imo are pretty clear - Steele, Crouch, Sinclair, Gresh and King. Plenty of others deserving of the minor placings after that though.

Sinclair yes, King has had some good quarters but he hasn't put in 4 quarters yet. I reckon Ross might be up there. Crouch could be, Gresham for sure but what about Hill? If King is a certainty, surely Higgins is there too.

Anyway, the point I was trying to make was just how many players are turning it up this year. This feels like a champion team rather than a team of champions, like that saying goes.

A kid with 5 games to his name takes meterage and pulls off quality kicks that bust zones and structures apart.

Not sure how that gives me a short memory. Billings for all his talent has never been that player
Dumbest post

Love NWM but he’s done what he’s need to do and nothing more. He seems to be a good kick but this “bust zones and structures apart” bullshit is absolute nonsense.

Billings has always had amazing disposal, you could argue he takes safe options, sure, but if you’re trying to safe NWM is already more damaging then that’s the worst take I’ve ever read on Bigfooty. And that’s saying something.

That bulldog game was 7 years ago from memory.

Derrick rose buried Lebron James and Cleveland Cavaliers with a buzzer beater in a play off game that day.

That’s how long ago it was.
Was my wedding day.

Always make sure to post a tribute on my socials... To the Saints.

I noticed on the broadcast just how fast he runs to areas, I guess it's not obvious when the ball isn't in his hands, but it's not to say he isn't giving 100%. He's another option, that's worth something even if it isn't counted as a statistic for Mondays newspaper.
He has been very important in our backline , that extra tall helping out is a massive plus and then he puts the wheels on and heads forward.
I have to mention Howard he not really appreciated on he by a few but he gets the job done on the best forward every week , like today 15 one %ers is immense , even Paton was given the task to blanket Rankin and did the job once again only letting have 7 touches while he picked up 16.

Our backline coach has system in play which is bringing the best out the talent he has at his disposal.
To bring in Battle and Lienert into the setup has just helped to mesh everything together.

I think calling it the "dumbest post" is a bit much. I think one of mine would have earned that title.

NWM seems capable of kicking beyond the 25 - 30 meter contest with pinpoint accuracy. To me, that's busting open structures. I've gone on about him the last two weeks, but his kicking is genuinely elite and he makes kicking to a free man look effortless. And he can do it while under pressure.

Put the ball in Billings' hands, or in NWM's hands and see who is capable of doing more with it with a single disposal? I'm going with NWM for now.

Players to come in:

Jones, Clark, Billings, Ryder, Webster

Players to go out for them:

Hayes
Lienert
Windy
Long

Which imo leaves one of Wood or Nas going out as the fifth. Neither really deserve to be dropped though (but probably neither do Hayes or Long or Lienert tbh).

That said, there's never zero injuries so I don't see this selection conundrum coming up any time soon.

For me, no guaratees for coming in with Clark and Billings. They both probably need to prove their fitness and ability to fit into the plan. Clark and Billings have been known to be slow. Billings a bit iffy with his pressure. But that's the past (hopefully) because everyone is looking fit and firing this year, PBs and career highs flying everywhere. But definitely via Sandy now.
Jones probably the easiest to slot in, I'm glad he went for four quarters today, see how he pulls up.

Loving Sinclair, Roma and Hayes rocking the Mad Max hairdos.

Keep hunting the Guzzoline boys.

Got to get the Guzz.

Ideal side as of right now, IMO, is;

B: Paton - Howard - Wilkie
HB: Webster - Battle - Sinclair
C: Hill - Gresham - Jones
HF: Butler - Membrey - Billings
F: Higgins - King - Ryder
Foll: Marshall Steele Ross

Int (from): Clark McKenzie Wanganeen-Milera Long Wood

Unlucky: Hayes Lienert
Very Very unlucky would be Crouch? 😳 haha

When I do teams I usually duplicate about 3 players and forget someone like Members because in my head of course he's there. 🙂

Glad to see we still expect more from King even though he’s just about the best forward in the comp at the moment

Lol you cannot be serious

I’m all for hyping up first year rookies. I really am. NWM looks good, he does. But he has definitely not broken a game apart YET. He has nice disposal; I’m yet to see anything that leads me to believe he’s the best in his draft class, but I’m still happy with what I’ve seen…. But in saying that, i think we all (including Stavro) are pretty quick to forget how good AND DAMAGING Billings can be

I swear you guys just tend to blindly agree with whatever he says because he claimed to say some ITK info like 6 years ago or whatever

I'm comparing NWM to Billings on one single metric - disposal. And I'd take NWM over Billings every day of the week for that.

If only selection were that easy haha

Nope… Hill better than Steele so far and Patton played bigger roles than he gets credit externally

Good problem to have, I guess!

Yes, Crouch makes the team. 😂

That’s a reach

Hate on Billings for anything other than disposal. Tackling pressure, hardness at the contest, aggressiveness to take the game on… etc.

But his disposal has always, and I mean ALWAYS been spot on. (except in front of goal lol but NWM also missed a sitter last week.)
