Anyone questioning Butlers place in the team has rocks in their head.

He's the number 1 forward in the league for pressure acts. Had the most in the game today as well.

He won't always kick a lot of goals but if he averages 1 per game over the season along with his pressure he's done his job and is a vital part of the team.

People questioned his place last year but he was always applying elite pressure and thats why he kept his spot.

For once I agree with you, wood has been very good for us , lots of small things he does goes unnoticed
For once?!

There are only two options in life… agreeing with me, or being wrong.

You are talking about the passage of play where there were 3 Sun's vs hill on the city side of the ground, ?
Initially. We were talking about this.

I was then reminded how luck the bounce was. So I thought I’d share was Joey wanted to talk about a minute after the goal on commentary

Still missing your point, yeah it ended up a great piece of play , Still just lucky the bounce went our way for a change
Anywho happy easter

Our defensive transition is in elite areas and shows the work they put in pre season is paying off. The rebound game having Hill and NWM makes it an easy task for our fwds to lead to.

Crouch is having a good start and our mids seem more stable. Loving watching King… quieter today but still causing issues for opposition.

Wood over Billings for me 100%. All over the ground is a better marking target, bigger body when it comes to laying and breaking tackles, comparable running tank and left foot. 🥴 More than happy for Mr Billings to come in and make me take those comments back however!
Think we don't know what we have until it's gone.

Billings, Clark, Jones easily come into the side.

No one has. I merely pointed out earlier that people want Long out yet to my eyes his form is as good as Butlers over the past three weeks. I'd be keeping both.

Woods gonna have to start doing a bit more than his 14 touches and less than half a goal a game to keep Billings out I think

really like Hill at the high HF perfect spot for him
im starting to think he was being hamstrung on halfback playing a way thats not natural to him by worrying about the structure of the backline, leaving holes etc if he were to go his own way.

They showed some of his movement today and he still tracks all the way to halfback and basically follows the play around running through each phase to give the option. dont get that freedom on the backline, opposition are much more accountable to keep up with Hill

If it was literally the only game he’s been influential in, fine, but it’s not.

We’ll agree to disagree.

Kicked 5 and had 30 touches in his 50th game against the blues in 2017. From memory he had a similar game against the pies too. I’ve always thought he’s the type to win a norm smith if we ever got that far

absolutely, however i'm purely torn due to Woods versatility. I think it will be a 'we concede to lose woods to get a much more dangerous attack'. We will pile on bigger scores when its going our way with Billings, but Woods is no slouch when put in a variety of roles.

I definitely do think Billings should and will come in, but I'm still not entirely sure about this. There are only a certain amount of disposals to go around in a team. We're averaging the third most in the comp at the moment (387 - seven per game from first). That's not to say that we shouldn't worry about disposals, but there are other metrics. Not all players need to get it 20 times a match. The midfielders and rebounding defenders definitely need to find their fair share, but I don't think Wood needs to rack it up. He's also the type Ratten has shown a pretty consistent desire to keep in the team. A tall, athletic roaming winger who kicks it pretty well. Wood doesn't really get back and take many intercepts, but he does compete well in the air. I've rambled on a bit there and I'm not really sure where I sit on the Wood/Billings stuff tbh. Injuries probably resolve selection dilemmas like they normally do. Nice contemplations to have.

Clark for lienet
Jones for windy
Jimmy for byrnes

Can fight over who is sub

Billings...

I think it's people watching the game on TV that don't see what else does during the game , we're you there at the game today

It’s sad that we have to go back 5+ years to find games where you actually noticed Billings was out there.

Seb told his daughter that he'll try to kick a goal for her today, that's pretty spesh:

That’s it I’m fully on board the Sebastian Ross Redemption Train.

I love his self awareness about his kicking. He’s really playing to his strengths and weaknesses this year. Understands his role in the side.

Hope he tells his daughter he’ll kick 3 and have 5 tackles next week.

Billings ain't coming in for wood. Theyre two completely different players for different roles.

Ratts wants a tall utility in the side who can run forward. He essentially wants a high marking winger who can also play a third tall role. Its essentially the role battle was playing last year.

Billings ain't anywhere near that.

It's like saying Jones would replace Long. Just two completely different players and roles.

Wood is one of the hardest working when you watch him live. I’ve really noticed that this year being able to be at games.

He gets all the way back to defence and spoils in a way I confuse him with Dougs. Then he’s up the ground and snapping from outside 50. Suddenly he’s almost playing an inside role in the contest and earns a clearance.

He’s like Mr fixit Membrey with Brad Hill running.

Physicality is scary for opposition players too

Billings is more competing with Snags and NWM
