Yep lot of Bruce slander. He’s not the best key forward but he actually is A key forward a functional one at that. The year he did his knee at the dogs he was on track to podium the Coleman. Has been a bit more off the pace there but he can indeed take marks and kick goals. Wouldn’t pay him top dollar though
If he was a second key forward he'd be pretty good. Also , Richo had him running all round the ground from backline forward, and he had the tank to do it.

If Caminiti and Pou were not doing all that well, then Membrey would be straight in, but the two young guys are holding up well, and why would a coach fiddle with a team that is on top of the ladder and winning games easily? Membrey will need to string a couple of big games together at Sandy first.

Watching tonight - big ground lots of space - difficult to know whether it will be hard to defend Collingwood‘s attacking game or favour our hard running outnumbering game.

Apologies for repeating myself but preseason match sim I watched Hill & Byrnes play Wing on each other - incredible running capacity & speed from both - went from half forward to half back stride for stride at pace together & both used the ball well when they got it - if we are to win Sunday both will be really important!

If that's the case then Sandy will welcome some big names into their team.
If it's good for Membrey to play in the VFL. Then they'll have to do the same for the rest.

Imo Membrey provides more than Cordy. Both in terms of a forward presence and around the ground.
Will King do a week in the VFL?

There’d be mutiny if RTB dropped Pou for his first game in Adelaide.

Cordy is the best Bulldogs recruit we have had since Farren Ray.

Farren Ray did a great tagging job on Dane Swan in the 2010 GF.

To play the RTB gameplan you have to be fit enough to play 5 quarters at full pace.

We have heard many injured players doing mini preseasons.
Membrey has done this, now needs to run all day in the VFL to get match fit.
One player of the 23 doesn't run to zone and the whole thing breaks down.

Fit to run all day and take the oppo to deep water. Can't do that get in Zebra stripes.

Farren was way better than Cordy.
So was Koby Stevens until he was forced to retire.

Membrey playing at Sandy isn’t about earning it, but rather about playing a game for the first time in seven months. He didn’t play any practice matches, so needs a run to get up to speed.

It’s not like RTB needs to see whether the guy can play football at all.

In contrast, Steele will be straight back in next week, as he’s only missed a few weeks.

I would have thought that if Membrey has to prove it in the VFL, then King would be the same.
Otherwise any talk of selection integrity and earning a spot is null and void.

Membrey's 188 "third tall" spot has been occupied by Owens191 and Phillipou 190. Owens is playing extremely well. Indeed his last game was exceptional. And Phillipou has been good to ok. Both have huge upside

If you assume that ideally teams have two key forwards, King's 201 spot is being kept warm by Cordy 195 , as Caminiti 196 is better than Cordy.
Cordy is only really playing GOP football, with a few nice highlights.

I do not think the Membrey and King comparison is really a good one, as a "rusty" Membrey may struggle in his first game back to be better than Owens/Poo have been. Whereas I think there is little doubt that a "rusty" King will be of more value than Cordy.

I think it’s a great idea playing Membrey at Sandi, with possibly a wet track in Adelaide against Collingwood.
There may be a tired young body or two, then we have a fresh Membrey to come in against Carlton.
