Probably but we had a knack for making bog average defenders look like superstars with our delivery into the forward line last year. We did it against the Hawks so well that people started to think Ben Stratton was actually a good defender.
Ben Stratton is actually a good defender.

I live in Curzon Street, two blocks from their home base, I go for a walk each day, sometimes I see them at training. The fans there just constantly ragging on players and the coach. Have no shame.
Were you not reading this board between JLT1 and the last quarter of the Melbourne game?!

Do North deserve the Good Friday game? According to Brian Taylor, it's time to stop "crapping on" about giving smaller clubs blockbuster slots.

Wowwwweeee he's gone wooshka
I can't argue, honestly being that this game is against Norf it's kinda like, meh to me...... if it was an annual good friday game against the Blues at the G, well that has a different feeling to it!

maybe the rationale is - a Carlton v Ess game will draw a crowd regardless, they can bank that crowd in any old round, if you can manufacture a blockbuster with a small drawing team, you have gains

i dont disagree, but in the spirit of Good Friday and attracting as much attention as possible to fill the coffers of the good friday appeal, wouldn't 90k at the G and a big TV audience do so much more? not to mention the game would actually have some meaning to it. I honestly couldn't care less about Norf, the Suns are a more interesting team to me.

yeh the dome part perplexes me.

why cap the amount of people that can go? - aka the amount raised

We really should and need to win this game to set up our season. The only area where they are stronger is in the ruck - and if Clarke and Bellcho can at least compete with Goldstein then we should have too much class across the rest of the park for the Roos. Cunnington and Higgins will probably get lots of the ball, but we have ZMerrett and Shiel they have to stop, and a bit more depth with Heppell, Zakka etc. Our defence should be able to keep their score lower than ours and we have much more X factor with the likes of Fanta, Stringer and Tippa. We really should win this game and win well and I bloody well hope we do as I’ve had a crack with a few of the betting agencies so I hope we don’t do an Essington!

cant see us doing an Essington here - North are trash - anything less than a 30 point plus win would be disappointing

I think we have been weaker in the ruck in the last few games but have adapted anyway.

That would be a good one

If easter locks in around this time every year, rolling from Carlton into Collingwood would be great
Personally think Ess v Melb, with Coll v Rich on the thursday night, makes more sense as it gets the early Anzac day teams playing first and maximises their rest.

The Hawks v Cats clash on Easter Monday works a treat. Modern rivalry. Both sets of fans rock up.
GF should be aiming for something like that. An overly biased Ess crowd with a pissant North one trying to keep up isn't quite up to scratch.

Always liked BT. He is rising in my estimation with this quote

Next step - why are North even in the league.... :)

I like the thinking but it would depend on when Easter is. It will be a lot of rest in 2020 as the Anzac day game will be two weeks after Easter.

i believe the churches are coming together to pick a date in the year for all 3 easters to be celebrated together and on the same weekend every year. Not sure where they are at with that, but I can see the two being fairly close together in the near future onwards.

either way, a better opponent than North on GF would be good. If it has to be played at Marvel, GWS or Brissy would be good.
If it can go to the G, Carlton or Melbourne would work too.

we should win this easily if we show up.

emphasis on IF.....

as long as we dont lapse back to round 1 & 2 form ...............

I believe there was a presser with Zach and Goldy

Zach said “we really want to compete with the top teams like Collingwood & Richmond” whilst Goldy sat beside

that's some a level trolling...

Yeah that was on AFL360 last night, nice troll by Zach

I reckon we really need a marking forward this game. Not sure if Brown will get as much room to run around. Not sure the resting ruck will be much help. Stringer competed well last week but missed a few overhead

North mid does look good with some Hall and Polec providing some outside run along with Higgins although Hall can butcher it at times. Cunnington, Ziebell, Ahern and Anderson inside. Although we did do a job on Dees vaunted midfield

Hopefully we do a better job on Wood this time, he had six shots last time.

Tough game coming up.

Noticed that too and my ears pricked up, but then he went on to half clarify it saying "who we couldn't beat last year" or something along those lines. Still a very good, subtle troll though.
