Holding atm

He rarely gets injured

If he hits 420k every campaigner will trade him in anyway
Not questioning durability. Slight concerns about role/Bailey Williams impact? Taking less kick outs. I’m in the hold camp but I’m wavering.

You know I listened to many people say No to tex Walker and missed the first 3 rounds and his big scores. Go with your gut he is playing a different role this year and with all the bombers midfield injuries he is getting more mid time. He had 21 cba’s 78% on the weekend he will be a good buy at his price.

His -45 b/e is tempting, but what happens to his cash gen if he goes goalless this week? Last week he had only 5 effective disposals. Luckily for his sc score all 5 of those effective disposals were score involvements hence the 84 score in a close game, but that 84 could have easily been a 35-40. He's laid out this early season trap once or twice before, not sure I'm buying what he and Essendon are selling just yet.

What combo would people go for in this 2 week period?

Option 1
OUT: Clark (D5), Campbell
IN: Bowes (D5), Waterman (means I likely have to field Berry or Waterman over Campbell going forward

Next week
OUT: T. Phillips N Murray
IN: Mitchell, L Jones to bench fielding Chapman

option 1.png

vs

Option 2
OUT: N Murray, Jordon
IN: CJ (D5), Waterman

Next week
OUT: T Phillips, Clark
IN: Oliver, L Jones to bench, field chapman D6

option 2.png

Basically, is CJ comparable enough to Bowes so I can keep Campbell and get Clarry? Or is Bowes so much more reliable than CJ that it's worth losing a slightly better on field rookie in Campbell and getting a slight worse premo in Mitchell over Clarry?

I don't have his heat map on hand, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was heavily red in the 50 like a key forward. From watching the games it seems like he attends the CBA and then runs straight forward, doesn't really hang around repeat stoppages or look to link up like a midfielder does. Feel like he's a carbon copy of De Goey at a cheaper price, ok if you manage to catch a wave of 3 good scores but more likely to drop 60's than 90's, especially in a poor team.

I think Bowes can be a keeper for sure, I don't trust CJ would be the same. Depends on how highly you rate Campbells scoring potential for a spike score and some cash gen but I think Bowes/Titch might be a safer combo than CJ/Oliver.

Cheers mate.

Yeah kind of leaning that way. I was set on Clarry but I may have to wait him out. Mitchell is super reliable I guess

He will fill the void for some former De Goey believers I'm sure :p

It is a tough call on Jordan. He might have run his race. But he had low time on ground this week. They might have done that to keep him fresh and he might still have some good games and scores left in him, and might still rise in price quite a bit from 200K.

In going Butters to Oliver you’re getting a excellent primo, so no issue with that part of the trade. It’s the finding the extra 100K when none of the rookies have really maxed out that is the problem. If you’re set on Oliver then I don’t really see a better way of doing it than what you’ve come up with. I guess you could go early on Flynn to Treacy, but that probably feels worse than going early on Jordan.

Only other options would be finding some value to trade Butters to I guess? Cal Ward? Heppell? You’re mostly guns and rookies so I assume these options don’t appeal that much to you.
I have looked at those options but don’t really like them to be honest, got a few days to play around with things still to see what I can come up with. Thanks for the advice cheers

Option 1 purely for Bowes > CJ.

I have to replace Butters, Adams and May. May can stay for now, can cover him but need to find a defender and a mid for $1,050.

Considering Doedee/Dunks or Short/Cerra or Jelwood but open to any suggestions.
