Preview Round 6 Changes v Richmond

This round last season was when I realised that we actually were a bloody good side. I, like probably a lot of damaged dees supporters were probably a bit skeptical at 5-0, but that win against Richmond on Anzac Eve on Jonesy’s 300th was massive.

We should win and should win well, not the end of the world if we don’t, still a lot of fight in this Tigers side.

In: BBB
Out: Weid

Tmac lucky imo.

Weird that the AFL isn't playing a game in Melbourne until Sunday night on a long weekend.

Super Rugby has it's 'Super Round', with 5 (meant to be 6, but COVID) fixtures at AAMI Park across Fri-Sun, plus the Super W Grand Final (AFLW equivalent). Can't imagine it'll do huge numbers, but weird for the AFL to give even the most crippled of opponents a free kick like that

True if it was bright Burgo it would be 3 back to back ACLs and delisted like Neitshke

Neitshke was trash, Burgo just tried putting him out of his misery as quick as possible. The humane thing to do.

Hey guys. Well done on the great start to the year.

Was just wondering what the go is with Petraccas knee? Heard he has been icing it after games. Is there an issue? Debating picking him up for supercoach.

I haven't heard anything about it further to what you've said here - just a little bit of media speculation maybe. IMO he seemed a touch iffy on it a few weeks ago against Essendon, but he was also being tagged heavily that game, so could have just been that. Seemed fine to me on the weekend - I imagine a lot of players would do something similar for various ailments.

He clearly had something a bit more troubling than normal a couple of weeks back.

I’m sure it’s true he manages swelling and ices that knee regularly, however he doesn’t have compression bandages at training and strapping on the knee in a game like he did against Essendon couple of weeks back.

But no strapping against Port or Giants and he seemed to be moving fine again in the Giants game.

Trac wouldn't have played if he was a risk of getting injured in round 3. Common now
* “come on now” (I will accept c’mon now)

This. I also don't think it'd be that uncommon for blokes with history of injury to a certain body part (knee, ankle, shoulder etc) to do some extra recovery for that. BBrown seems to always have a knee sleeve on at training for his.

One week in VFL for Ben. Deja Vu.

As for weids and tmac. Was at game thought weids had an almost game with about 10 marks almost clunked but coming out. Ultimately both were very similar and in that case Tmac prob will always stay in the team with a draw in performances. Just keep an eye out on Tmacs back it looks a little sore.

No change.

The sentimentality for Weideman is bizarre. Realistically, he's averaged 7.5 disposals and half a goal a game for the last two weeks in comfortable wins where he's had all the opportunity to stake a claim for his future in the 22. Straight out for Brown.

I like him more than McDonald at this stage, but we know he isn't going anywhere. Also plays a different role to Weid/Brown.

If that's an evaluation of a KPF, we should resurrect Dawes in the mid-season draft – he'd get his concrete mitts to at least 20 dropped marks.

Yeah I'm not picking Weid ahead of TMac on form, isn't doing enough to make up for the versatility TMac + around the ground effort TMac offers (even if his form is all over the place). Although if we're winning it's much of a muchness. Keen to see how the Brown/Weid pairing works against the better defences compared with how Brown/TMac functioned last year when TMac was out of form towards the hot end of the season.

It's such a low bar for Sam, just needs to bring what he did in that patch in 2020 and the spot is his as a role player.

Does anyone know if its the same knee that was operated on for the ACL.

And if i recall correctly, he hyper-extended a knee in our Premiership game.

Can someone check which knee hyper-extended from the replay, and also confirm which knee had the ACL operation. and which knee is now being iced

Same knee – he mentioned that it's been a periodic thing since the injury. Clearly hasn't hampered him too much if that's the case.

What I also loved about Tmac was, against GWS, I think it was in the last quarter when the game was iced, he was inside 50 on a bit of an angle I think it was. And if anyone could have been tempted to do the more selfish thing and have a shot it would have been him, with him playing for his spot. But he still did the team non-selfish thing and centred it and hit a target. Absolutely loved the man for it and my energy was that of that gif of the rock clapping in the crowd, you know the one.

Hmm although I just realised that in this team doing the unselfish thing is maybe looked upon so favourably when it comes to selection that doing it actually is in one's self-interest if you want to stay in the team.. so in that sense he was still being selfish. Paradox, mind blown, etc
