Round 6 vs Brisbane Lions

So what does averyone think about this game. Our defence will be really tested and it doesn't help matters that Craig Bolton is almost certainly going to miss the game.

If Grundy and LRT have good games then odds are we will win the game.

Re: Round 6 vs Brisbane Lions

I think Grundy will be on Fev,and i suppose that leaves Lrt on Brown, or perhaps Lrt and
Teddy double teaming on brown. Either way we will have trouble coping with a very potent
forward line. Our best bet is to shutdown their midfield supply, and choke them at stoppages, which is our trademark. I think this game is a real test of where we are at.
We have coming up games against other genuine finals contenders, and the Bloods spirit
will need to come to the fore!

Just posted this on the Demon's board Round 5 thread :

Thanks to Melbourne I think the Swans are safely in second spot after 5 and :D:D:D we get the Brisbane Vossies at the SCG next up :D:D:D. Thanks Dees!

Great win for Dees as they tame the Paddle Pops by a half century.

Brisbane were shocking tonight. Merrett has done a hammy, Patfull was struggling with an ankle, and Brown isn't close to be 100% fit. Black was their best so he might be bouncing back into form. They were missing Sherman and Power and they will be big inclusions for next week, if fit.

So shutdown Fevola, Drummond and Brennan (who was quiet tonight) and we should win. We have a larger spread of goal scoring power which is their biggest downfall. Everyone craps on about Fev and Brown but they don't have many other threats going forward.

Only change needed is Bolton if injured. No one else needs to be dropped for form. We are set for next week and could be blessed with a few injury problems at Brisbane.

To be honest, I'm not at all sure Richards will come in for Bolton. Bolton has been playing on smalls so far this year, and while Richards has played small before, I don't know I'd trust him. It's not as much of a like-for-like swap as it seems. Smith took over Bolton's role on LeCras today, and did very well. Though I like Richards and don't feel quite right with him out of the team, I'd be tempted to bring in a Veszpremi, Barlow, Rohan, O'Dwyer, more of a running player. To go left field, TDL even, releasing Goodes into the midfield full time (he spent a fair bit of time there today).

Especially with Brown underdone (and after tonight's performance, probably likely to miss).

Hard to see Brown playing based on what we saw tonight. Still a very tough game though.

I would have thought Richards is a certaintly to come in for Bolton. I agree it's not exactly like for like, but I'm not sure who else you can really put back there.
