What if Bonte smashes out a 100 this week or Hallahan in a non Sub game? Or what if Salem or Lennon kill it on debut? These are top 10 draft guns. Honeychurch, Holman, Newton could all debut and have great 1st up games and be perfect to bring in on the bubble just before the byes. You haven't even seen this weeks teams, yet you seem to think you know that there aren't going to be any rookie downgrade options next week. I'd take Billings after his 3rd before Robertson if he backs up from last week. Then there are players we don't even expect to be selected. It's like the people here are so desperate to downgrade, that they talk themselves into any old spud on the bubble that deep down they know isn't that good for fear that something better might never come along, which is just silly.
Not going to go for Bonts personally, but the others could potentially happen. The only problem is, like I said, the rookies are going to start losing cash, so when is it too late to cash in? Dunstan's last 2 weeks have been 50's, so if he doesn't gun it this week he's not going to go up. Ellis has that 2 in his rotation so he's ****ed.

I'm weighing up whether it's worth holding onto them for one week and have them potentially lose cash, on the hope that potentially new rookies could come to light, or whether I should downgrade now and get the guaranteed cash. And with rookies, I prefer to play it safe and cash them in at their probably peak.

I agree. The money you'd lose by holding Tyson or Dunstan any longer outweighs the potential extra $50k a better rookie might make you IF that rookie even comes up in the next few weeks. Offload now, pocket the $$.

If Ellis doesn't play I'd hold.
Dunstan I'm loathe to trade out this week as I have a gut feeling he's going to smash out a 120+ will try and hang onto him until his bye, selections permitting. 1 good score and he'll start making cash again. Absolute gun in the JOM 2013 variety.

Well of course if Ellis doesn't play I'll hold him, but all reports say that he will, in which case I'm getting rid of him. And in that case I don't have to deal with trading Dunstan out, as he seems to have two modes, gun or spud, and he's due for gun mode. Dunstan will go right before his bye all things permitting.

In the last 2 games where Dunstan has spudded up SC wise he still managed 18 & 21 possies, he was just well down on his usual tackle count.

I was expecting Ellis to miss but you're right, if he plays he has to go instead of Dunstan.

I though Dunstan looked a bit lazy last week. He has proved he can score very well but he's also shown he can go missing. I would think Polec is this year's JOM.

It might be just me, but I'm meh towards all of the rookie downgrade options this week, apart from Lloyd. :rainbow:
It's not so much the rookies coming in that excites people, it's being able slaughter the cows that are pretty much maxed out and being able to replace them with cheap options that will make cash. Even if Robertson only makes 60k, it's the 220k we gain from bringing him in that is enticing - particularly with the Bye rounds approaching. IMO have a warchest in the bank approaching the Bye's is absolutely gold. :thumbsu:

I just find it hard to believe that a contested boy-man beast like Dunstan will moo at only 320k. Reckon he has another 80-100k in him at the minimum.
Hmm I'll hold off. It's just that I want Swallow so bad. It's a risk/ reward deal will Dunstan moo enough to cover Swallow's price rise/s?

Then we'll slaugher cows that are maxed out when their bubbles come along. Players like McDonald, Langdon, Langford, Georgiou, Higgins all have a lowish B/E at the moment but it's steadily increasing every week. In 2-3 weeks they'll be at their maximum limit too.

Def downgrade options are a bit of a worry though.

Fingers crossed that sides like your own figure out they are not much chop this year and start playing more rookies mid-year onward.
Disrespect intended :p

Absolutely. Langdon and McDonald are easier to slaughter because of their DPP status though.

I wouldn't be against downgrading Langdon to Cutler next week either, even though he'll go up to 160 or so. Make a quick 100k and trade out a Round 8 player for a Round 10 player avoiding a potential donut. Cutler should be ripe for slaughter by Round 10 so it's a win win.

Talk I've heard from a few Port fans is that Gray will be out once Monfries has returned to full fitness (as long as there are no other injuries to similar players), especially considering his performance against the Eagles was not quite as good as when he played in a game with a lot less intensity like the Brisbane game.
Certainly is the case. From all reports monfries should play this week too as he has recovered quicker than expected.

** Scrap that, Monfries being held back one more week.

Should I go

M Thomas > Rockliff/Fyfe or downgrade to Ribonson and take 489k into next week?

fwiw I have a pretty close game this week in a league where I'm deseperate for a win, we dont have many different players so it will come down pretty close, i have 5 points higher projected
