I must commend those with the guts to trade in Deledio.

A 31 year old with chronic injury issues off the back of two standout scores.

Not for me.

Remember J.Kelly still to come back so Lids will go back to where he was playing before his big scores.

Will he though, has basically been innefective as a high forward and a half back, has starred on the ball.

Won't have the same midfield time but will still be in the rotation imo.

you are chasing points on a rookie mate thats sad.

rookies are here to generate cash, you want to get the most out of them and he has scored 3 60+ in the last 3 weeks looks like he has found his spot all he has to do is score a 90 and he goes up massively, trade naughton to a cheaper rookie to chase points and they score 40-50 and get dropped.

naughton has great JS and as i said if he is just over since you have finlayson, murray and doedee on the ground why worry about what he scores as long as he keeps ticking away and making money then you should keep him.
Sorry, will completely agree to disagree on him

I'm talking purely on what he will be after TWO more price rises, not now. The Dogs are shit and a current 60 average from Naughton does not guarantee he will go past 300k by his bye due to that fact and that he has already had two paltry sub 50 scores. He is an 18yo KPD, it's great he's making money right now, but I don't think it lasts.

As I said before what will he be on Sunday night come lockout ends? 260-270k? With likely limited growth left

Why should I prioritise chopping other rookies over him? Or not trade at all and fall further behind everyone. I've only used 4 trades so far, at this stage of the year previously I'd normally have blown 5-6 by now on corrections/injury trades. I'm happy to blow up to 21 trades from round 6 up until the end of the byes and sit on 5 trades for injuries with a completed team

Brayshaw is crawling along and hasn't even shown what he's capable of, like his JLT game against West Coast. He's in a similar price bracket and a better long-term hold than Naughton imo as he's due a big score instead of these consistent 40-60s, once he pumps out that big breakout score I ride that out while it's in his rolling average then reassess after it falls out, maybe you turf him then

Chopping Barry at 151k would be a waste of a trade and minimal cash made, he rots at M11 until he plays again/is loopholer material. He has already been emergency both weeks he's been out too so hopefully he's not too far away. If he plays through the byes then happy days too

Banfield has a good set role and wouldn't surprise me to see him start pumping 80-90s out off the back of high tackle numbers (similar to what Holman is doing). Imo he has greater cash making potential than Naughton

Telly and Holman have high ceilings, they aren't going anywhere for now as I need them at M7 + 8 until I can grab a Danger or Oliver type. Holman may be a decent hold through the byes even if he plays every week

Fritsch has more cash to make and was dropped, hopefully he's back on Sunday due to short turnover

Crowden is moving along ok but slowly (he was my Ryan replacement), like Holman, I reckon he gas a big 80-100 game in him based off high tackle numbers

Bonner and Garlett are in the gun for me before Naughton, but Naughton is an obvious candidate after them.

I also hardly think trading out an 80-90% maxed out rookie in round 7 is chasing points, round 6-7 is a great time to upgrade to early fallen premiums through rookies with limited growth or midpricers that have peaked early

How are YOU going to complete your team in good time if you hold someone like Naughton long-term for 10k increments a week until his bye once that 78 falls out? I want to complete my team and get 22 keepers onfield by the end of the byes, not during SC finals...

So as I said before, IF Naughton goes close or beats his highest score on Friday then he's an obvious hold FOR round 7 and beyond, but IF he scores sub 60 then he's on the chopping block with a BE to be likely higher than 40 at over 250k. In that circumstance I'd rather bank 140-160k and use it on an upgrade

With the Buddy and Sicily news, he might be safe until round 8 however now...

Deledio has been basically playing on the wing .... Kelly won’t affect him, may affect Tatantula

He got absolutely r*ped by CD on the weekend. I thought he dominated in the ruck against you guys and his tap work set up many opportunties for us.
Agree, his first half was huge, would've thought he'd been on 60-80 at HT on hitouts to advantage alone

He didn't find much of the ball in the second half FWIW (had an eye on his DT stats), might have given away a free kick or two also (CD loves the old clanger count to keep that old 3300 accumulator down)

if naughton averages 60+ to his bye he gets over 300k

If Buddy's heel is really sore then it may be a 2-3 weeker

Will plummet in price too off that 48 so I'm thinking grab Robbie now before he goes out of sight and hope McLeans 72 keeps his price affordable in a few weeks.

Will be interesting to see if Alir or Cameron plays forward if Reid is still out. Hanners out too, so what does Horse do with Heeney and Parker? Don't think I can grab Heeney until I see his role as Parker has struggled with the FWD/MID role given to him since the GWS game which was around the time Reid got injured. Heeney could have a few 70-90 games with Buddy out.

Hopefully Sicily only gets two max so he can sit at D8 I guess as his price ain't falling when he comes back. Might miss out on Mirra, but grab Guelfi out of necessity.

 Mmmm ? .......3 games B4 he plays the China game, & then his Bye ? ......but wait, there's more .....of those 3 games, one is North (Jacobs) & the other the Crows Showdown

Think i'll bring Gray in as planned after his Bye ......hopefully he's had a trip-up B4 then

You're missing the point here
Agree with you pups!

Gotta take a hard line approach with culling rookies - no point gaining $10k increases per week for two weeks when you can downgrade and gain another $60k over those two weeks from someone else and make money while you are at it.

You gotta cull hard and be ruthless with a lot of rookies, the exception being someone who is quite inconsistent that you are willing to hold because they have that potential high ceiling (re; Stephenson, Garlett, Rayner, etc.) and you would hold until their massive score comes out.

Also agree with the Fritsch, Barry, Murphy talk re; holding them until they are back in - unless you really need the cash, they can sit given they are in the frame each week.

As a non-Gray owner, the plan was always to bring him in after his bye. Fingers crossed for a Jacobs tag, which we all know is going to come.

And for those asking, why not grab him before the byes, every player is going to have a bye between now and the end of the season - the difference is, Port and GCS bye you still need to play 22, instead of playing 18 like every other SCer.

Sticking to the plan.... this is most likely

Bonner > Mirra
Venables > Guelfi

Over the following few weeks it will be "Operation get!"

Danger
Titch
Buddy
Hurley
Going to hold Bonner, if Sicily is outed ......Etihad should suit Bonner in R6 .....then looking at going Bonner to Cole R7

You just know Jacobs will go to Gray next week .......ex Port player too, so knows Gray's game

Anyone have Dangers price post this round?

Edit: trying to determine if I’ll have the cash to go Fritzl > Guelfi this week then Bonnar > Mirra & mid rookie (ie Brayshaw) > Danger next week

Only 20k in bank, probably not

Agree he was absolutely dominating us, his tap work was through the roof, I guess his possession count was low? Totally ass ****ed tho I agree

Not for me.

Not any different to 31 year old Wells in 2016 who also had chronic injury issues who ended up playing 18 games that year for a 101 average. Yes he did miss 4 games via said chronic injuries but he was damn good value for the most part.

I was listening to Lids being interviewed on SEN earlier today and he says the legs are feeling better than they have for a few years, so good he's now playing midfield without any problems and pulling up well. Says he has weekly acupuncture treatment on his calves and back and that is seems to be doing the trick this year.

Take from that what you will, he will no doubt miss a few games this year even with all things going well, but he does have the potential to average 100+ in a midfield role.
