I’d be very surprised to see pendles play. I fractured two ribs when I was 18 playing footy and missed over a month. Wasn’t just the pain but breathing was bloody hard, and that was bush league footy.

Elite afl, with fitness and speed of it. Can’t see him playing.
Steven May had two fractured ribs & a damaged vertebrae, unbelievably only missed one game (he did seem sore during the return game) , Pendle’s is 4yrs older, but hopefully just misses one week, being the bye 🤞🏻…….

They had Sullivan playing off half back. Didn't attend any centre bounces that I could see (trying to see if he can play another position?)
The CB mids were: Long, Allan and Macrae v Nick, Jordy and Mitchell.
How did Long go?

Sharp as ever, I just realised we are not playing this weekend. I never bothered to look at the date of our game - just the day. Wondering why no team has been announced, rather than berate everyone in here for not posting the team, I've gone off searching for it, thinking of all the likes I will be awarded for posting it. To think that I was arranging my weekend to fit like a finely tailored coat around the game! Now I am all dressed up, but with nowhere to go.
Watch VFL then , live on CH 7 Sunday ... where we smash the scum!

Steven May broke 3 ribs and only missed 1 game a few weeks ago

I'm furious that they haven't picked Macrae this week.

As I posted on the game day thread - my issue with Lippa/Sidey isn’t with either of the pair, it’s when we have Lippa AND Sidey we become far too slow around the ground. I actually thought Lipinski had a strong opening half against the hawks, 13 of his 17 disposals and I believe only Noble had more metres gained in that half.

However once Sidebottom came on and reclaimed the wing, Lipinski got swung either inside the contest or to a HFF flank - which while he’s shown “ok” signs in those roles in the past, it’s just not his best role atm.

For mine a decision needs to be made on playing just one of them - back him in and leave him to patrol their wing. I would personally go for Lipinski, younger and a bigger body and with a bit more depth on his kicking than Sidey these days. For those of you who prefer Sidey you won’t receive much argument from me either though, a legend of the club, elite skills on both sides of his body and high Footy IQ - so whichever side of the fence you’re on I’ll hear your argument, but for mine going forward it needs to be just one of them!

He is not slow ( same pace as Sidey), he has great hands - eg that great handball to set up McCreery, against Bribance.
He is great on both sides and excellent reader of taps.
In the last game he went to 6 centre bounces and won 2.
So frankly I’m not sure you’ve watched him enough.

You throw around the word “great” very loosely. Fin is at best “average” in most categories and isn’t going to move the needle of team performance one iota. You have fallen in love with our list just because they’re wearing black and white stripes and are setting yourself up for disappointment. Fin is rightly struggling to get a game with us just as he would at every other team in the competition. Unfortunately he is nothing special. Time to see what else is on our list.

Realistically, you make a good point, and many of us would like to see Fin passed over and someone else tapped on the the shoulder instead - maybe Sullivan given he has been acquired as a ready made replacement for the mids. Allan looks too laconic, has lacked intensity, hasn't banged the door down in the VFL - not quite sure how to put it. Bytel is not coming in. But though Fin seems like too much of a known quantity, ignoring him would not be easy for the selectors. He has really got to be given a chance to prove he is not up to the job, then with any luck, pleasantly surprise us all with a game played at a level above our expectations.

He’s 16 games in over four seasons. How much longer do we give him? Cal Brown got 70 games over about 7 seasons and was a complete bust. I hope we get a read on Fin well before that.

He’s got great hands - you can chose to believe it or not. And I offered the McCreery example that also been acknowledged by others.
You needed to watch Finn more closely.

Having “belief” in the ability of Finn is hardly a crime.
Writing off our kids as you have based on scant evidence is just premature.

Especially when your contrast to Geel supposed superiority with their youth, has been challenged by others.

Anyway I’ve made my point - time to move on.

4 years is hardly scant evidence. As for hands, remember Billy Morrison, the man with close to the biggest hands in AFL history? Turned out that big didn't equate with great and that Billy was just another one of those over-hyped draftees who we famously believe is going to be a star but turns out to be anything but one. Anyway, I assume we will get a chance to see Finn in action in the VFL on Sunday. Don't know about others, but I will be closely watching his hands to see how often he uses them and what he does with them.

That would be a bit risky if he's not 100% fit & we don't think he can play a full game. An injury could occur early in the match & he'd have to come on.

Then back him up as sub on Anzac Day if needs be in that case.

Pretty naive to think players are always 100 percent fit before they are selected. Calculated risk assessments are done on a weekly basis.

I'm not being naive. I know some players are playing with some niggle of some description every week.

This was specifically about Pendles who has broken ribs. If he's fit to play, then just play him. But if the suggestion is to name him as sub because he's not fully recovered from his rib injury, I'd rather wait until Anzac Day in case he has to come on early in the Port game.

And if he does need to be managed, then again, wait until Anzac Day.

But if they think he's better as a tactical sub against Port, then do that for that reason. Not because he hasn't recovered from his rib injury.

I think your inference suggests, you should focus on your other passions, beyond Football, with which to enjoy the pleasures of great hands.

That was pretty much my premise too as I mentioned in one of my posts re the five day break. As for injury recovery we all know it’s not a binary decision, players aren’t just injured or not injured, there’s always degrees in between and decisions are made taking risks and rewards into account.

That said it’s ribs rather than a knee or a hamstring so it requires another unlucky knock for it to reoccur. Spending more time on the bench through being sub will reduce tog, and abate that risk to some extent if he’s not 100%. Of course the risk is that he has to come on early and they need to be confident he will get through in that eventuality.
