We're missing 5 of our starting back 6 too, all things considered it wasn't too bad an effort from the group forced to deal with the Hawks forward line.
Rance, Astbury, Grimes, Conca, Yarran back in and the back 6 looks a lot classier and flexible.

I'm talking about the start to our seasons, are you happy with our fitness? Our game plan? Why are we 1-6

I didn't realise this was a season review thread, mind pointing me in the direction to the Richmond V Hawthorn autopsy thread please.

But to answer your points, no I'm not happy with the fitness. Not impressed with Burge at all, our ability to run for four quarters is below par, and we have far to many players who don't seem to be big enough.

Our current predicament has nothing to do with game plan, as we saw tonight for three quarters it's a good brand of football, tough and hard on the inside with quick ball use on the outside when it comes off, unfortunately the team couldn't sustain it for four quarters.

Awful last quarter.

Out:
Batchelor: 5 possessions. Just pathetic. He isn't key position size and he doesn't offer rebound. Shouldn't be playing
Chaplin: Nothing game again. It's an inditement on him when they prefer to play Batchelor and McIntosh in the big guys
Griffiths: He will just never make it. Play two talls + Lennnon.

In:
Rance: Obvious
Lennon: Replacement for Griffiths as a lead up forward
A mid?

Clearly injured, could barely jog. Set up a nice goal before he was injured. Was good last year.

Better effort but still lacking a gameplan that will allow us to move the ball through a press. Only time we looked like scoring was from a center clearance. On the flip side, Hawthorn moved the ball from coast to coast with ease simply through running and kicking to the right spots.

Defence of overlap run out the back still an issue too.

Cotchin would love to have Martin, Miles and Vlas with him every week. Add in Edwards, Deledio and a few more, our midfield looks decent again
get grimes and rance back next week, vlast stays in da middel

Have a look at our margins:

Carlton: WIN by 9 points
Collingwood: LOSS by 1 point
Adelaide: LOSS by 36 points
West Coast: LOSS by 68 points
Melbourne: LOSS by 33 points
Port Adelaide: LOSS by 35 points
Hawthorn: LOSS by 46 points

I don't know what to say. I thought there was a good chance that we would have negative win-loss record by Round 7 before the season started, but something like 3-4 with a decent percentage. Not 1-6 with a percentage of 73.2% and losing 30+ every week after Round 2.

This is getting tedious now.

I agree with Chaplin and Batch but I thought Griffiths was pretty good tonight...

we'd win a lot more if we had norfs injury run

It appears that hawthorn took us so seriously that they rested Mitchell, coming off a 15 goal drubbing.

Problem is our season will turn and we will win 8 or 9 games and get a top 6 or 7 pick, better off just forgetting this year, playing whatever young talent we have and finishing right down.
