What about Kade Kolodjashnij as a mini-downgrade for Mitchell? Depending on bye structure obviously, but I could get away with this. Is it too risky bringing in a first year player? Will KK be a keeper? Thoughts?
Hmmmm, I actually really like that idea. Kolodjashnij should get to 480k or so at this rate.

Don't think he's a keeper though.

Heath Shaw is hardly getting a mention, thoughts on him for Mitchell?

Doing Gleeson>Lloyd (syd)
Ellis>Acres
Mitchell>Hibberd

And next week I can hopefully do a downgrade (hopefully Laidler> someone under 140k)
Mcdonald>Hanley
Kelly>Selwood

Leaves me with 16 trades left after next week. Hopefully I can then settle with my trades for a few weeks. Any improvements?

If he gets to 480K he'll have to average 90+, given that he would be a keeper or pretty damm close to it..

FWIW I dont think he can get to 480K or a 90 average

Mitchell -> McVeigh
McDonald -> Lloyd/Hallahan (was meant to do this last week but totally forgot :()

Gives me 18 on field pending team announcements (Hanley, Langford, Ambrose). Will surely be using the third trade on Friday.

Mitchell being out (and price drop of 60k) has really stuffed up my trading plans over the next 3 rounds... anyone else feel the same??
Yeap. Had it all planned out perfectly. Mitchell out and dropping 60k also hurts. I done some calculations earlier for the bye rounds and i feel i can get through them ok and have close to a full premo team on the other side of it. Jaensch hurts also as does buddy. Will hold both as if i keep sideways trading premos i will be out of trades in no time and my team will look and score no better than it does at this stage.

Read in the Herald Sun today that KK is in some doubt to return the week after bye with some knee soreness, so I'd stay away.

Mate what do you think Jake Lloyds job security is like?

I could go Crouch > J.Lloyd which brings the kitty up to $159,000

Then next week Kelly > Acres, Webster > Swallow and Polec > Pendles.

Round 11 I would bring in Selwood by going Sam Lloyd > Selwood via Taylor dpp but will need to downgrade somewhere to get the extra cash required with the other trade.

Thoughts?
his JS seems fine at the moment. could however expect a few vested performances if he doesnt keep up the level he is at now.

crouch still has quite a but of mullah to make..

whats the big deal with acres? and still dont believe you dont already have swallow and pendels

reason I didnt start with mcveigh is I play with my head. not my heart lol.

That's a fantastic idea. I would seriously consider that if I had Mitchell. It's quite possible you could do a direct sideways back to Mitchell as KK will be worth close to the same amount by the time SM returns.

Finding a replacement for Mitchell is certainly the biggest trade problem this week. Not because there are no decent potential replacements, but because there are so many. Bye structure makes it a bit easier to decide though.

I had thought my backline was pretty well set with Mitchell, 4 other keepers and Bartel to come in after his bye. But Mitchell's injury means finding someone in addition to Bartel to trade in ... but who and when? Burgoyne, Hurn and Birchall are all good options, but I'll be passing on them all.

Prior to the season I worked out what I called a "peak average" for all the top players. It was the highest average they managed over any 10 game period in the past 2 years. Not a definitive guide to the best options, but a handy one nonetheless. Six backline players stood out. Mitchell managed about 118 and the other 5 players were all around 112. They were Bartel, McVeigh, Walker, Hanley and H.Shaw. After that came Simpson on about 108 with the next best being about 100. Based on that, the players I'm considering to replace Mitchell are Walker, Hanley and Shaw, with Bartel still to come in after his bye.

Walker ... Not a player I trust to perform well. He does have the round 9 bye and seems to be back in good form, but last year was the only year he's averaged over 85. His scoring is very much based on how he's used and with Carlton in such a mess at the moment I'm not confident he'll stay in a SC friendly position.

Hanley ... Has the round 10 bye which is as bad for me as round 8 is for most other teams. He's also coming off an injury which he may not be fully over and hasn't looked all that good this year anyway. His scoring depends on where he's played and that seems to be a raffle for several players at Brisbane including him.

H.Shaw ... Looks a sound option. Has the preferred round 9 bye and has averaged over 90 in each of the last 8 years, usually over 95 and a few times over 100. After a slow start at GWS he seems to have settled in and found form, averaging 111 over the past 3 weeks. Has a very good attendance record, usually only missing a couple of games each year. You can also be pretty confident he'll keep playing in his usual position, unlike the other two.

So I'll be going Mitchell > H.Shaw this week and trading in Bartel next week.

Just wondering, if Cutler doesn't start as the sub this week and gets to play, is it still worth it to downgrade LMac to Cutler?
Cash generation purposes and to get 19 players on field.

I would only do the trade due to the lack of quality DEF rookies available, and McDonald's price will slide while Cutler's will continue to rise over the next few weeks.

However, if your motivation is purely to get a 19th fit man on the field, I think its a wasted trade. Just hold LMAC through the byes or upgrade him before his price drops next week.

Might do something a little different and go Mitchell to Birchall. Seriously so hard to decide who to trade him for.

Part of the reason is due to the lack of defensive rookies available to be honest. LMac will have to go next week so in that case, might as well do it this week and get myself a 19th man?
I cannot upgrade him next week because I do not have enough funds, so downgrading is the only way to go and Cutler seems to be the only viable option.

Yes. I made that exact trade last week. I would do that regardless of whether he starts sub TBH.

Swap a Round 8 player for a Round 10 player + cash from a maxed out rookie.

No brainer really.
