Brodie should be getting game time every week.
Everyone says we need a big strong inside mid. His what 192? And racks up 20plus touches with ease.

Just look at old mate scrimshaw.
Couldn’t get a game with the Suns.. yet now averaging 18 touches a game for the Hawks.
Clarko doesn’t play anyone not worthy.

Brodie would be a walk in starter for any club.

Don’t want to make the same mistake twice.
Has josh Kennedy trade written all over it.
Be lucky to get a third Rd pick for Brodie ATM

Then next year he would belt out midfielders up

Brodie is not Josh Kennedy , Josh Kennedy play in a team that have Sam Mitchell , Lewis , Hodge , burgoyne at their peak . I think Brodie highly rate in U18 because he is a man child rather than his skill , especially kicking skill .He is 189 cm not 192 .

this old chestnut
We all know why Scrimshaw wasn't playing for us and it had nothing to do with talent
Not to mention the fact the guy walked into their team which speaks volumes for our player development
Oh unless he had a plate of those magic Victorian beans over the pre-season?

And that cab is headed to Melbourne, another mismanaged too 10 pick

I’d be happy to continue to just build our club with local junior/academy players and desperate state league players until such time things turn for us rather than every year have to talk about these Victorian draft picks that every year we speculate about if they are kicking stones and sooking it or not.
If however, I was in my 70s or 80s I’d be starting to get pretty antsy because just making the finals let alone a blooming Flag looks a long time away.

Stay healthy on the GC Suns Fans. We need to be very patient.

I'd put Weller straight back in - play your best and run the risks. Hanley in as well. GHS out for sure and I'll await the screams - Miller out for Brodie so we have two bull mids getting the ball out to the many outsiders we have. Touk has been underwhelming in the last three games, no matter how much of a team player he is. GHS the same type but they have to have the talent in the end as well. Ben King deserves a chance but who goes out for him? How did Lukosious go? .....and then of course there's Rankine! I only hope we see him soon and not burn him in the 2s over too many weeks.
Absolutely Weller straight back in. He and Hanley make a massive difference off half back.
He's had a full pre season and virtually never missed at game he doesn't need nursing back.

Melbourne are slow - we need to add some pace to exploit their weakness.

I'd be going Weller + Hanley in for GHS and Young if they're available.
I'd also consider Sam Day in to give Wright and Corbett some aerial help up forward.
Corbett obviously a nice mark but he's a bit too short to compete against the real tall defenders.

Melbourne have McDonald, Frost and Hore as their tall backs.

I'm all up for local guys if they are up to the level.
These are the Queenslanders who have been through our organisation (may not be 100% correct)

Below AFL quality
Dawson, Heron, Nutting, Jackson Allen, Andrew Boston, Clay Cameron, Joey Daye, Jared Ellis, Josh Hall, Marc Lock, Rex Liddy, Max Spencer, Joel Tippett, Joel Wilkinson

To be determined
Scheer, Crossley, Graham, Joyce

AFL quality
Bowes, Dixon, Sexton, Thompson, Harbrow

I think at this stage we should treat them as a bonus not to be relied upon.
Would be great to get the academy to a stage where we are consistently producing AFL players

Pace will be vital against Melbourne. Hanley, Weller and maybe even Lemmens if we want to go full pace. Drop Murdoch, GHS and Young perhaps.

Try and break the lines.
I thought Murdoch was quite good again this weekend.
His kicking and pace out of defence has been valuable
His kickouts have also been nice.

Weller up on the wing.
Murdoch in defence.
Ainsworth good on the wing but plays low TOG - usually low 70's

Sexton Wright Macpherson
Martin Corbett Bowes
Weller Fiorini Powell
Hanley Hombsch Murdoch
Ballard Collins Harbrow

Witts Swallow Miller

Miles Holman Ainsworth + someone else (Day/Lemmens/Schoenfeld/Lukosius)

Other than Garlett (Harbrow) Melbourne don't really have a dangerous small forward so I'd be ok with dropping Joyce to bring in someone a bit more attacking or some additional midfield depth

Yeah could be fair. Perhaps Joyce out instead of Murdoch.

Of those 4 you listed, I would go with Lemmens against a slower Melbourne team. He also brings a bit of physicality with his tackling.

Are we expecting Weller and Hanley to be available this week??
I hope so! We desperately need at least one of them back. Preferably both!

This is really it for us, guys. If we want to keep our season alive then this is a MUST WIN. If this game was held a few weeks ago then I'd be far more confident but the Dees have just come off a decent win over Hawthorn and are probably feeling confident. Having said that, I was pleased with the way our boys fought it out in the second half against West Coast on Saturday night. We showed a lot of fight and if we can play like that for four quarters then we are a massive chance to beat the Dees.

If our boys want the opportunity to be chasing a finals place in July/August then this is a non-negotiable! We simply MUST win to continue progressing as a football club.

Long trip back from Perth. Not optimistic. Plus Demons are getting their mojo back.

We are 7 games in and I know it is wrong but I kind of feel a little bit that maybe it would not be the end of the world maybe if we put up a good show, had a bunch of good players and some quality plays, but did not quite just eke it out in the end to the tune of a handful of points but just to the teams below us on the ladder like the Demons. Perhaps instead squeak out a couple of good wins later in the season against finals contenders. Perhaps? Conflicted. But I do know that being up the reverse pointy end at the end the year would not be a bad thing for a rebuilding team that needs some A grade mids.

Know what you mean but I'd really like to see us win more often than not at Metricon. It's good for the game up here
Having said that last night I was looking at the last 8 games of the draw and wondering what games we could potentially snag and become finals shapers
Maybe GWS, maybe Collingwood.(dreaming)
But what I'd really like is to beat Richmond, and kick their collective smug arses back home over the Murray while their supporters moan about having to actually play a game not at the MCG

Beating Geelong or Richmond would be worthy of not just a Victory Scotch but Scotch and Pole Dancers at Orchid Ave.

Hard to know what to want out of the season.

After the West Coast game I have the same mood as if we won on the weekend. Which is completely and utterly warped and broken, but I guess an indication of where we've come from. Getting within 23 points of West Coast over there means the same to me as a win.

Wins are always good. But hard fought losses are also good. Just give me something to be proud of.
