OUT: C Brown, T Brown, Reef
IN: Henry, Cox

I think we need the two rucks in Cameron and Cox, as I think Nank and Soldo would take a sole ruck for a ride. Witts absolutely dominated in his own today, and even Chol rucked well when he had the chance. This is Cox’s last chance to influence at AFL level. It’s ruck or bust.

Playing Begg in my opinion is akin to playing Wilson. I don’t think he should influence structure, but rather he’s out there to have a crack and get some exposure.

B: Howe - Moore - Quaynor
HB: Maynard - Madgen - Pendlebury
C: J Daicos - Adams - N Daicos
HF: Hoskin-Elliott - Mihocek - Henry
F: Ginnivan - Cameron - McCreery
R: Cox - Crisp - De Goey
I: Lipinski - Sidebottom - Noble - Begg
Sub: Bianco

People forget how unplayable Cox is because he does decent in the VFL, I have been at fault of this too. Just remember his most recent game vs the Lions where he was beyond useless. Cameron + Begg is the way to go until Begg needs a rest
He doesn’t even do decently in the VFL as a forward though.
As a ruck though, who can float forward and cause some headaches, I think he’s quite underrated because outside of a couple of games in 2017 he’s never been given the chance to play that role.

I'd consider bringing him in but retaining Begg as well. I think Begg played decently, and I find it poor form to drop a debutant if they don't obviously not belong.

Cox and Henry both deserve call ups. I can think of two brothers who deserve relegation. Roughead cannot come back quickly enough to see Madgen off!

There are players who shine in the VFL but can’t make the step up to AFL footy. The Brown brothers fall under this category.

There are players who are ok at VFL level but then are able to adjust to senior footy and play well at the level. Macrae and Poulter are those types imo. It’s time to give them a chance, because both Callum and Tyler just aren’t able to take that next step required to be an AFL footballer.

Possibly. But I think it’s unlikely Cox gets a recall without a solid block of good performances under his belt at this point, particularly given that Fly indicated in his presser that he was satisfied with Begg and Camerons performances today.

I thought Tyler was alright today, I'd persevere with him. Wasn't Cal's worst game either, but might be harder to lock him in again.

I'm a little worried about continuing with Cameron/Begg double against the Tiges, but I'll run with it for now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nick Daicos got a rest soon too, just not this week

Yeah, I think there is certainly an element of that. If Begg's body can withstand it then I'll back Fly's judgement. Thought Cameron played really decently today

Out: Madgen Brown x 2
In: Ruscoe Henry Poulter/Macrae (flip a coin)

Cameron played well enough to retain his spot and I think we need to see more of Begg (Back up ruck not an ideal role for him though)

Cox will probs be brought in though.
Exactly my changes , have Poulter in front of Macrae at the moment , bit too one paced. If the coach was to get adventurous. It would be Murley

Don't mind the call of Murley or Harrison having a go as a forward pocket, half forward to replace the brown brothers. Both are much more natural forwards from what I can see then the Brown brothers. But more likely Henry gets a go.

The thing is that we have McInness who has showed more form in his stints as an inside mid in his NAB days than what T Brown has shown in that position for years

Hence McInness going a lot earlier in the draft than T Brown

If we want a purely defensive mid who averages 8 touches a week then we could still be playing Macaffer there

Otherwise give Reef the games in the midfield
Whilst I agree with that in general (McInnes will overtake brown)….he’s not there right now.
As of now we have minimal depth and the club are keen to reward performances in the vfl it would seem.
So brown gets the nod.

McInnes would have been completely owned today and from what I’ve seen in the VFL, he is no where near the strength and size of brown to apply the defensive side of the game. So the result would have been significantly worse IMO.
Plus his fitness isn’t there as yet either.

So until he comes on (most likely next year), he won’t play significant minutes in that spot.

T brown was good today. Did his job.
He’s an inside mid only and he can only get it on the spread.
We got completely owned today in the middle, so his 1-wood was taken away from him.

But his defensive side was exceptional.
He was really strong in the contest and caused numerous turnovers off multiple defensive acts.

Agree he needs to get more of it, but he’s only got 1 string to his bow and that was taken away from him.

We have no one in the twos banging the door down in that role.
Unless they move degoey into the middle and play reef out of the square, T brown most likely stays.
Agree on Tyler - I didn’t see one of his tackles broken, and his inside work was good. I’m sure Rowell is sore tonight given the number of times Brown crunched him.

Not bad. I'm very nervous after hearing Fly's post match presser. If we go with the same line up next week we cop our first flogging for the year in my humble opinion. Hoskin-Elliott looks like he doesn't want to be out there. Whenever he wins a possession it seems it came in his direction and he is surprised and a little perplexed before booting it a little further down the ground. His intensity level is below zero. He sucks the life out of the team with his "almost marks" insipid chasing, attack on the pill and general lack of enthusiasm.

Yes , Henry first in then RUSCOE
Im a big Ruscoe fan. But he needs a few more solid weeks. The other issue is who is Ruscoe going to replace? Howe? Maynard? IQ?, Noble? , Madge? The only one he is close to replacing at the moment is Mage. All the rest of them have either good overall form this year (Howe, IQ and Noble) or have been consistently good over the last few years (Maynard, not been great this year) Despite his reputation I feel that Madge is well respected by the coaching staff and a lock right now even though many see him as the weakest link. I feel the only way Ruscoe gets into the team is with an injury to one of the above players.

Quaynor Madgen Howe
Maynard Moore Pendles
Sidey Adams J Daicos
Reef Mihocek McCeery
Ginnivan Cox DeGoey

Cameron Crisp Lipinsky

Begg, Tyler, Noble, N Daicos
