Great start but everything fell down after the first quarter. Too many injuries and the umps tried their best to get the Saints the 4 points.
Lester played his best game IMO. Great to see that he can win the clearances in the guts but can also push froward a kick a bag. Beams was massive and easily his best game for us as well.

Can the bye come quick enough?

Pretty woeful performance, constant turnovers in dangerous positions on the ground combined with a lack of accountability in defense usually results in losses. That being said, St Kilda played better than us and have probably overtaken us, which sucks to admit.

Well done Lions - you fought it out with 19 men - great team attitude.

Very undermanned today from the attempted mark by Ryan Harwood - too many injuries.

Might have been different without them but it was a gutsy effort nonetheless.

Looking forward to the break now - hopefully the injured will come galloping back.

Go Lions

3 more ****ing injuries… Umpires slaughtered us yet again. That patch where they directly cost us 3 goals turned the entire momentum of the game.

Very very frustrating :(

Beams and Lester the key positives from the game, Really missed - McStay, Merrett, Mayes & Hanley today.. keen to see them back in the next couple of rounds

It's so stressful to watch. No idea how frustrating it must be for a kid who's doing everything he can and getting ****ed by a different set of rules.

What is most frustrating watching is the inconsistency of the umpires.

Too many players were contesting their decisions verbally for them to be considered as being even acceptable.

If they can't even bounce the ball on the cricket wicket it doesn't say much for their standard anyway.

They didn't lose the game for us but the certainly influenced the final score.

While the umpires killed us, that shouldn't be an excuse for our mediocre performance. Truth is, we just got our asses handed by bottom feeding club, and questions should be asked

Was Mayes fit? If so why didn't he play?

The Saints aren't THAT bad and have turned it around massively since last year and good on them...But man some of our skills, handballing and luck with injuries makes me wonder why I support this club :(

Brett Burton OUT. A run of injuries can only be bad luck for so long, if they keep happening questions need to be asked of the fitness guy.

Butchered the ball no doubt, that game though as soon as Harwood went down the dominos started to fall. Felt like we were spread thin the whole game, we made a lot of mistakes and fatigued probably aided that in a lot of ways. One more game against GWS and we have a chance to reload.

Maybe it's because I'm getting older and am gaining a little perspective but here's where i'm at. Sure, I like to see the Lions do well. If we win i regard it as nice. If we don't then i shrug my shoulders and move on (already done that). I don't blame others for the results we achieve because i believe it is a cop out. Injuries are part of the game and we don't appear to be a club that top talent wants to move to (Beams, an exceptional circumstance). We're where we're at for a variety of reasons, none of which any of us can influence. I'm beginning to worry about the game in Queensland but it doesn't keep me awake at night. The Lions will come good again but i have no idea when. Sure, I'm disappointed we blew a good start but i tipped us for a close loss. I'm also not interested in how high a draft pick we get and people who obsess over it, almost seem disappointed if we win a game and player x becomes further out of reach...i don't get that.

Pleased when we win, ambivalent when we don't but i will always follow the Lions, regardless. Maybe I haven't mellowed and i'm just a stupid, old bastard (still)! ;)

Great first term but fell to bits after that, Saints did it fairly comfortably really. Injuries have really hurt us but the total drop-off in intensity was tough to watch, that was a winnable game.

Robertson and Lester were excellent, really good to see them stand up like they did.

They're also doing pretty well with injuries at the moment. I think they're only missing Gilbert and Fisher from their strongest side.

No doubt sacking Burton would have stopped Harwood from getting knocked out, McStay dislocating his finger, Close from doing his knee...

We don't look fit, we don't look strong and the amount of injuries is extremely high. Not an expert on athletic high performance but I'm not seeing many things which he has improved.

Things confirmed today. Aish is shit. Green needs to find ways to get into the game. Bewick makes horrid decisions with the ball. Rich is lazy. Zorko has to be dropped most dissapointing player this year. Dawson is very very slow but young. Leuy has to be traded. Taylor needs to do damage with possessions not chip backwards. Zac o'brien must never play Afl ever again, anywhere anyhow. Leppa needs to rip into the umps and cop the fine-they kill us every week.we need 2 guns bought in over summer. It has sucked being a lions supporter for a long time now.
