Think the 7 day break will be appreciated by the lads...
Yes. After the Swans game is where you’ll possibly see players rested with 4 and 5 day turnarounds but done smartly. I’m sure Ratts and coaching staff will be reviewing our opps playing style and bring in a Player/couple of player that suit that game style. Rds 10-12 will be very telling on all teams.

Parker plays.

Out
Kent (inj)
Ross (inj)
King (managed)

In
Lonie
Bytel
Battle

Give King a rest and get him ready for the run against the Suns, Cats and Bombers.

Play Battle as a genuine CHF with Marshall and Membrey deep.

To me we just have to pit games into King. He's going well just needs experience.

Yep agree on the changes.

Nobody under 23 should be managed through this next block of games either. If anyone is going to be managed it'll be the older players - I'm thinking Ryder & Carlisle predominantly. Rest of them should be able to play every game.
How olds Jones? He may be one to be given a rest given his soft tissue injuries so far this year.

Pretty sad if they rest him against Sydney. He’s not old, 25? he’ll be fine.

Wouldn’t rest him against Sydney...7 days in between games....maybe where we have the 4 or 5 day turnaround.

Going to have to see what happens with Ross. We don’t have a heap of midfielders to spare with Hanners and Dunstan unavailable.

Everyone was horning up over Phillips last year.

Jones is 25. The next month will all be about recovery anyway, I doubt the boys will be training much - or at any kind of intensity.

He's 25. I wouldnt be surprised if he missed one of GC or Geelong.
But it could also depend on whether Ross will miss a decent chunk of if/when we rest him.
Why would we rest players on a 7 day break?
Never said to rest players this week with a 7 day turnaround. Rd 10-12 mentioned. Next week against swans is r9. Gold Coast would be rd 10.

Agreed.
I just meant if Ross is going to miss the next 3-4 games, then we might be reluctant to rest Jones during this period with no experienced mid to replace him.

Kent’s injury was his right knee not his ankle, he’ll be fine for Sydney I would think. Same with Hill with his left knee.

Battle in for Parker, and Bytel in for Ross.

Hopefully this is the game where we actually win as the favourites.

Don't think I'd rush Battle back. At least not at the expense of Parker.

Would rather get another game into Parker and keep Battle up our sleeves for any injuries the following game, on the short turnaround.

It's not like Battle is important structurally (doesn't really have a set role) and he's not also likely to make the difference between winning and losing, so I'd rather back us to win whether he's playing or not and get another game into Parker.

Had a great debut (24 touches in Perth). But is clearly pretty limited. Wouldn't want him or dmac getting too many games this year.
Not necessarily so!
We're playing so much better this year and better playing teams seem to bring out the best in some players. Take how Kent is playing this season for example. Dmac can run, take a grab and puts his body on the line. Phillips can run all day.
They will most likely play at some stage, but I think, like Kent has this season, they'll do OK!

Having no Ross and Hannebery just mean's Gresham , Steele and Jones do the bulk of the midfield work with Hunter Clark , Sinclair pitching in to help.
In the coming weeks we will have Long and Battle back into the 22 and no doubt Marsh , Lonie , Byrne , Bytel , McKenzie , Phillips , Savage could very well get call ups in the coming weeks.
The time of through injury for Ross might benefit us in the long run , he might come back reinvigorated.

We have been lucky with injury , Hannerbery is missed but he hasn't been a disaster him not playing and Ross hasn't really been in form.
Apart from that only Webster is the only other guy that could be playing in the 22.

We just have to make sure we have our best 22 ready to play the top teams - Cats , WCE , GWS - I really feel these are the only sides that we will have trouble with.
In saying that we have proved will get beaten if we don't turn up with the hunger against any team.

I fully expect the Sydney game is there for the taking - they are devastated by injury.

Big opportunity to set ourselves in the top four for a while over the next fortnight. A lot of the teams around us are playing each other over that time while we have a slightly softer draw.
Out: Ross(injured)
In: Bytel.

wouldn’t be surprised to see one or both of King and Paddy managed but hope to see them playing.

with plenty of small forward depth I can see them resting Kent if he is sore at all.
