Re: Round 17 Trades

Got a few major dilemmas and badly need some help!!

I have been doing well this year in my leagues. Had a couple crap scores after heaps of injuries before a 2400 in last round of competition has me averaging little under 2200 overall and comfortably top 4 in all my leagues. Coming in to this round plan was simple. Wait til Friday night and then downgrade Harris (Suns - not selected and has not been for a while) to Jolly (Suns) or Ebert (WCE) and trade Judd (Carlton bye in SC finals) for Dal Santo.

Then Heath Shaw goes and royally ####en stuffs me. AS IF YOU AND YOUR ####WIT MATE LIEDAK DIDN'T DO ME BAD ENOUGH IN 08 YOU DOWNRIGHT ####EN DIMWIT!

Now just don't know what to do. I have 6 trades left and $240,000 spare cash. Really want to trade Judd for Dal Santo and Shaw for Joncock. Plus outside of Curnow (again bye in SC finals) none of my midfield bench players are not selected so really want to downgrade Harris to someone who is at least going to get a game incase I cop a late withdrawal from one of my onfield mids. Both Dal and Judd face stiff opposition this week but I have a feeling Dal might score higher and drive his already high price up where as Judd might dip.

Then there is the Shaw thing. Could wait but then again Joncock and the Crows LOVE nothing more lately than dominating the Bombers in Adelaide so his price also may head steadily upward as well as me missing out on the points as I bring in a relatively low scorer Stanley (Suns) from the bench.

And if I choose to move on Harris who to trade for. I just want someone cheapish who will get a game. Was going to get Jolly last week but he was initially dropped before coming back in to score 98. Then there is Ebert who has managed to stay in the WC side all year but has terrible scores and gets very little of the ball.

Re: Round 17 Trades

Okay just looking for a bit of convincing over this trade as I feel it could pay off in the short term but hurt later on.

Sandi > Keeffe

Now this would leave me with $584,600 and 4 trades. It makes sense that to avoid wasting trades doing One down/one up, I could use my remaining 4 trades for huge upgrades/sideways, instead of finding low priced players that I won't need for cover or cashing in.

My ruck combo would be Cox, Smith (Bailey, Keeffe)

Would you do it?

Personally I wouldn't do it mate, purely the fact I see Smith putting out an 80 average. His body is starting to feel the toll of AFL football and with no byes left he might even get a rest. I'd look for a premium option if I was you. Please do not let my opinion sway your thoughts.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate the opinion. If I back out, I will bring in Mumford for Sandi which would be a much safer option than relying on Smith and Bailey for the R2 spot. Just like the idea of having all that cash to play with.

Re: Round 17 Trades

What are people thoughts on bringing Adcock in? He's hopefully recovered from his injury and is 328 so would free up more cash?

He's tempting but it'd take a very brave man to do it. Alot braver than me.

My 2-part question:

1) Who to keep out of Hibberd and Puopolo? Would rather keep Pooper but getting rid of Hibberd destroys my D/M link.

2) Bring in Newman, Hurn or Stiffy?

* Playing for league only.

Hmn. I would forget the D/M advantage and just get Poop. And I would go for Newman. Has been pretty solid for me all year with a few really big scores and a few low scores that still weren't completely disastrous. Can't go wrong with any of the 3 though and within 20 mins all 3 might (depending on advice i get on my questions late on the last page ;) ) be starting for me.

Re: Round 17 Trades

Thoughts on:

Shaw > Watson or Talia
Illes > Pendlebury

These trades buy me some time so I can bring Newman in after his bye and finish my midfield.

Pretty risky though

Re: Round 17 Trades

Have held onto Buckley for too long, now a seemingly simple decision needs to be made:

Hurn or Newman? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Newman has a bye in a 3 team bye week so it doesn't matter. Get him in now. Watson won't be in the side long and Carlton players are a no no.

Re: Round 17 Trades

Fisher, Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, Hurn, Shaw (Heppell, Puopolo, Batchelor)
How will I replace him? Tossing up between Enright and Suckling I think.
Enright has a bye in finals and Collingwood in the Grand Final.
Play Heppell this week, get Suckling next. Has a decent SOS including the Suns in the Grany.
Thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback.

What about Talia?

If I don't bring Pendlebury in this week I will miss the boat completely.

Just not sure which upgrade to go with .... stupid Shaw:(

Re: Round 17 Trades

I'm going for a league win and Lions have bye in supercoach so I'm not worried about that. Does anyone think he can recapture his early form?

He's shown no sign of it so far so unless you are totally stuck for cash I would avoid IMHO.

Me...Scotland V Broughton

Dont care about leagues this year, just overall. I am worried what will happen to Broughton once the full Freo midfield come back. Scotland's bye will cost me 30+ pts having to put rookie on the ground but he is the 2nd highest averaging Def this year.

Torn.

Buckley is a strong possibility to come in for Shaw, and has a do-able B/E of 55, but get your point - he's not likely to come up with any big score regardless.
Hurn for overall, Newman for league IMO.

Really don't know anything about Talia. Crows cheap player. Have you got other defenders getting a game? Maybe try downgrade to Wilkinson of the Suns who has gone up a little but at least is playing/starting if you need someone scoring. If scoring doesn't matter get whatever $80k shmuk you can and yes for god's sake get Pendles in.

Still prefer Brough given your situation.

Re: Round 17 Trades

So which option and player is best?

1. Shaw to Watson or Talia and Illes to Pendlebury
2. Shaw to Hurn or Newman and another downgrade

Current line ups for this round:

B: Deledio Fisher Gibbs Goddard Shaw Enright Broughton (Puopolo, Jacobs & Howard)

M: Boyd Judd Ablett Swan Illes Krakouer/Mzunga (Hodge, Callinan & Hibberd)

Yeah, thanks mate! Went with Newman, stopped worrying about the overall when I realised my team was pretty good but not excellent. Also, I've got money riding on one of my leagues.

Hmn I liked 2 as Pendles can't go much higher and Iles is at least selected but don't want to be responsible for an 0 in your mid if a withdrawal occurs and you have Puop on the bench in Def so I'd go option 1 Talia.
