On the Greg Lynn committal proceedings Crown Prosecutor Mr Dickie said 'It is clear hopefully from the document, and if it's not clear from the document it's clear hopefully from the charges put before the court, that it is alleged of course that the accused acted with murderous intent when he allegedly killed the two victims.'

Interesting to note that he was arrested in the High Country, reported by one outlet to be "High Plains". There are 2 High Plains in that area ; Dargo High Plains to the North East (which alleged person would have travelled through to get from Wonnangatta to the Great Alpine Rd) or Howitt High Plain to the South (which is directly above the most commonly used access track into the Wonnangatta Valley, Zeka Spur).

Quite a coincidence if unrelated. Hiding or relocating evidence perhaps?
There’s no obvious reason they couldn’t have nabbed him at home, so it seems likely they thought he was going somewhere relevant, ie to the bodies or perhaps some burried evidence, hoping to cover his tracks.

Maybe the reason is they had a name and knew where he is.. they ain’t waiting a couple of weeks for him to come home..

Yeah, poor bugger.

Suspect he was eliminated very early on. I remember watching an SBS special on him and it had nothing about him at all. Just a bunch of locals protecting him. Journo had nothing, just trying to make a narrative.

What was really odd about it was Silvester ran with it.

Not exactly easy to track people in that area via their personal devices so one must assume that the suspect was under surveillance from the coppers to call in choppers and nab him.

No. Tooradin is where I saw it. But it was in a vacant bit of land next to an abandoned shop.

I seen a blue GU Patrol on the weekend just as I was turning into my local bunnings and he was leaving. Didn't have time to get the phone out and take a photograph. This was Eastern Suburbs Melbourne.

Good news to hear, hopefully the police have something of substance (DNA, evidence, suspect movements, etc).
You'd think in suburban Caroline Springs it would be obvious if your neighbour has a vehicle matching a police description - I wonder if anyone has come forward since the recent release of info as well to add to any details known to police. Or is there an intimadatory factor at play here as well?

So it's fair to say the police were watching him the whole time while he was up there just waiting for any signs of him acting suspiciously...

He might have got too close to other campers with access to a firearm and they thought it was a risk so jumped. Do we know if he was in the Nissan they've been looking for when he was arrested?

At 55 years old you could probably rule out a romantic link as the reason.

They were 74 and 73 when they disappeared, arrested man was probably 53-54 at the time of their disappearance. As you say, seems unlikely, but relative ages still leave many possibilities open - extreme scenario, but could be son of one or both, for example, given they were, I believe, high-school 'sweethearts' as described from memory in one media report. Highly unlikely, but who knows? Also not unknown for 18-19+ age gaps in romantic relationships of any configuration. Given the secrecy of their relationship from one of their families, there could be other secrets as well, as unlikely as that appears.

You'd be pretty crazy to move evidence now when it's been so long and they hadn't found anything. Unless of course that "thing" was a blue 4WD.

Agree. But could also have been going to a burial site to double-check they hadn't left any traces behind? Hard to know what goes on in the mind of someone hiding a horrible secret they are responsible for - and how that then drives their actions.

Yeah people do strange things under pressure. Completely believable that he would panic about something and race over to reassure himself while on another trip.

But was arrested in a remote campsite in East Gippsland

Yeah, I know, just surmising why he might be in eastern Vic rather than Caroline Springs. Hiding out, staying away from home, re-checked scene of crime before heading further east? Will be curious to see if any friends or family have been sitting on potential (incriminating) info/evidence too (as in after the fact) - the details of the blue Patrol have been out there for 2 weeks now. Surely someone, if they weren't already suspicious, who knows the arrestee would have been well aware of their family member/friends potential involvement.
