Easy guys. Dude has made a stupid mistake. He has also been the most hated guy in AFL for doing his thing week in week out for this club. He's one of ours

Look I do feel sorry for him, however the fact that he is one of ours won't stop me being critical of him.

I can't stand the #standbyhird crew, and I refuse to sugarcoat anything just because it was one of ours.

All I will say is that I agree it will not be his legacy.

Am I correct in assuming that the reason pain killers are on the banned substance list is because they can mask other PEDs in one's system? Not because they are PE themselves?

It's because their metabolites are similar/the same as recreational pharmacological substances and differentiating them is too much effort/removes the clear result that a clear result gives, so all are cut.

Right....

Haha, I'm guessing that means "yes, because they can hide PEDs in one's system" :p

So if Crowls can prove (with evidence, to the "comfortable satisfaction of the hearing panel") that:
i) The intent was not to enhance sport performance
ii) Nor was it to mask the use of PEDs

then there is the potential for a minimum reprimand with no period of ineligibility, given this is his first violation.

Good thing he's lawyered up.

Perhaps one of the 37 West Coast supporters on this thread could answer?

By the looks of his press conference Crowley is going to be open , honest and not waste everyone's time by trying to hide anything unlike the whole essendon saga .

If essendon players are proven to have taken peptides and get off suspension then Crowley gets suspended for pain killers it would be a massive injustice .

It means they can't tell if you took speed Friday night or an old Cold & Flu capsule.
Or hitting up the smack compared to an opiate pain killer.

By the way, does anyone know what kind of freaky sports drink Ahmed Saad was drinking if he couldn't prove i) and ii) in my above post?

Or did it contain something that was classified as "performance enhancing"?

Agreed.

You can stay.

Hence why you would take the psuedo free medication.

Hell if I was a AFL player, I wouldnt even listen to Psuedo Echo just in case.

Lock in B....it was even listed on the side of the can

Apparently he accepted that he had taken a pain killer last September and has been banned from playing since. He had and op on his back prior to round 17 and took the pain killer before playing without the Doctor or clubs knowledge.Ryan has secured a legal team to help with AFL tribunal.

How shifty is the club saw the press statement that Crowley is going to pay his own legal bill !!!! not happy JAN !!! He needs support right now and club abandons him !!!!

Haha, yeah found it "Saad has been suspended for 18 months - backdated to August - for taking the banned stimulant methylsynephrine, contained in the pre-workout drink "Before Battle"."

Maybe I should start hitting up these energy drinks chock full of stimulants...

Last I heard he was running laps at training, still in club colours, still employed.

Not exactly abandoned now is it.

I agree with that. It appears that players should be given a couple of painkillers authorised by the club just in case something happens out of work hours.
Most clubs have a doctor on call 24x7 so that is no excuse.
The players are told by the AFLPA, the club and the medicos to not even take an asprin without club doctor clearance.

Thant said, it took less than a month to pay Demetriou his bonus - why so long for Crowley to get a hearing?

I hope it is an innocent mistake as he is a great player and has made a place his own in a strong team despite not having elite general football skills.

This is the end for him, but in all honesty, was finished anyway. Would only be holding back the young talent
if available for selection, same as Sylvia, the game has passed them by.
