On the Nat Fyfe recent podcast with Howie, he spoke very highly of Jason Weber. Said he helped him transform his body to be the best he could possibly be. The only thing Is that Fyfe is a freak of nature - I wonder if Weber is putting similar pressure on other players and their bodies can’t handle it?

Fyfe must not be a BigFooty devotee if he has positive things to say about Weber!!!!

S & C and medical are two different departments correct, but Weber is responsible for both departments - they all report to him.

Yeah but that doesn't mean he's going to overrule their decisions on gameday.

It's not a Woolies nightfill team - if you hire specialists you have to trust them to do their job without micromanaging.

didn't Fyfe have to have an 'accidental' run in with a pilates instructor in the 'street' who offered him a free lesson (and which he continued with) before he stopped getting injured every other week? I know Pav had a personal Yoga instructor and daily sessions which prolonged his career. Bit sad when professional sportspeople have to go outside a club for additional help to avoid injuries.

Im concerned with Webber putting muscle around Henry's knees. If he fu**s up, then he needs the axe.

His whole knee injury timeline keeps blowing out like his knee has.

Webber is useless
That’s literally standard rehab for dislocating a patella, what the **** else do you expect the club to do with him?

This has been going for a very long time. He even.went back to full training and then rehab again.
It’s pretty hard to get right especially on a knee that’s growing, being conservative and taking the time to get it right reduces the chance we have a Jaeger O’meara case with that patella

Nic Newman went from dislocation to tendon rupture in half a year last week

It's always hard to know exactly how the S&C team are faring if you don't have some reliable and valid data encompassing the whole league and several seasons. It may be they are doing a competent job.

What is clear is that they aren't on the top shelf as far as S&C depts go. The Lions, Tigers, Hawks and Melbourne S&C teams seem to be occupying that space and the club should always be aspiring to get to that level. Weber's been there long enough to show he's not going to get there and needs to either have less responsibility or be moved on at the first available opportunity and give someone else a go.

This thread is full of random dart throws at the S&C dept, none of you know anything so why speculate out of your disappointment? Injuries are common in professional sport and there is no room for hacks (unless your running Essendon or Geelong)

It's easy to assume that our injury concerns are the result of Weber and they likely are due in most part to Weber but there are likely a number of factors causing it. But once it starts happening to the same players on repeat it starts to get pretty suspicious and makes you ask questions. Have no idea when we're finally gonna get over it though.

We have been bottom 4 on the injury list for 4 straight years.

I admit I know nothing about S and Cand the medical side of things.

We will not win anything unless we have majority of our best 22 on the park.

Maybe, we make a change and it doesn’t work. But to keep things as norm is totally insane.

Weber needs to go because of the results.

Coaches are sacked based on win-lose result why not anybody else?

Mine's not a random barb. Sure they may (or may not be) competent, but competent's not a good enough aspiration.

Gold Coast's flying and possibly coincidentally, have a minimal injury list. Lions have had a "charmed run" with injuries over the past couple of seasons and that's just happily run parallel to their resurgence. Hawks have kept afloat by taking medical wrecks from other clubs and made them durable. Hmm , getting an elite S&C department might just be a critical area for team success.

Totally agree. I think our drafting strategy has a lot to do with our injury list. On one of the podcasts Ross was on, he mentioned something along the lines of these kids are so slightly built that when you throw them in at such a young age they get banged up real quick and he mentioned Fyfe and Hill having to have shoulder surgery at the starts of their careers as a result.
