Remember when we lost one time (I forget which Hinkleyball edition this was) and he said he didn't know what went wrong, presumably it was a similarly stat-pos score-neg game
That was the Russell Ebert tribute games vs the hawks.

Cahill was rightly appointed our initial coach with plans already in place for Chocco to take over. Primus got the job without much of a process after finishing off 2010 well. Hinkley never interviewed and now we are effectively looking to gift the role to Carr.
We've never held a formal application process for any of our coaches since we joined the AFL.
It's like some sort of third world autocracy without the hope of a military coup coming out to save us
A reminder that we are owned by the AFL.

To them, hinkley is perfect. Do well enough for the supporters, but don't appear in a grand final

We interviewed Chris Scott before going with Primus. Pretty sure we interviewed Dimma too at some point, might’ve been before a Choco re-signing.

How do they own us? We have a lot less debt than most clubs. I call BS on that claim. Bullshit peddled by anti Port w***ers.
They have control of our board (read: the club) with no conditions for it to be returned to the club.

We didn't hire any of them though. Point is we haven't really made an aggressive decision about our coaches except for poaching Williams out of Essendon in 1997.
Even back to extending Williams in 2009 we've just taken the easy route.
It seems like now we are still scarred from 2012 and the whole who would want to coach Port Adelaide trauma. Let's just not make a decision it's safer that way
It's like our world wide search for a CEO only to find him sitting in the tea room.

Well that is bullshit then. Are we the only club in that position?
Probably the most relevant comparison is Adelaide and they have provision for board control to be handed back in 2028 I think. This is something our Chairman purports to be completely ignorant about despite it being disclosed to him by the white noise the last 2 or 3 AGMs.

A Creed Worthy Coach

dude every AFL franchise is the same with a different animal theme

A Creed Worthy Coach

Our board truly is represented by some A Grade tossers who think because they live in another bigger city still have this outdated mentality that Adelaide is some kind of shit hole backwater. I know for a fact that Cos Cardone has this mentality. Aloof dikhead who works Maguire media and lives in what he considers the cosmospolitan Big Smoke. This guy should absolutely be no where fukcing near our board, let alone be thought of some kind of successsor to KochHead. His mindset denigrates the club. He has the attitude "Why would anyone want to come to Port Adelaide?". Such a Loser.
From a Coaching point of view, if somebody is not prepared to uproot their family, get out of their comfort zone, pursue what they purport to be truly passionate about, for a very well payed role then they can honestly get fukced. Im sure there are plenty out there that would jump at the chance. We have lost that arrogance that made us what we were. A complete sweep of this Loser mentality Board and Coaching Staff needs to happen before its too late. I know footy is different these days, geez I read that Mcrae article about him being in tears and "Im there for you" and almost vomited, but he won the flag last year so who boody well knows.... but we are such a weak willed club these days, the Board and Coach are the Prime reasons.

After we’d coughed up a 4-goal Q3 lead at the Gabba the week before, and he said:

Shocking then that the players were clearly complacent and feeling good about themselves leading into a game where they’d get rock’n’rolled by an L-Plate coach presiding over a rebuild.

As I said in the Hinkleyball thread, the Hawks haven’t won an away game outside of Victoria (there has been a win over Brisbane in Tasmania) since.

Even ignoring the big city snobbery it’s outrageous that we have a board member who has such strong ties to a direct competitor. May as well earmark Nigel Smart as Kochie’s successor and have KG and Cornesy run the marketing department.

We backed up that Hawthorn performance with another three consecutive losses including the Dawson Showdown debacle and a goalless half against Melbourne.

Apparently Ken was not present for that 0-5 start. He must have been on leave or something because he apparently resurrected us after this. Despite missing finals and finishing the season with another block of four consecutive losses between round 18-21 it was Kenny who had single-handedly dragged us back into finals contention to begin with. All hail Kenny.

Two final wins in nine years, a poor record for a decade against top teams and lost our last three finals by an average of eight goals. All down to bad luck and nothing to do with coaching, apparently.

Yep.

You know how we shit on Hinkley for having gone 250 games coaching the same side without a GF? That's the worst record of any 250 game coach. You know who has the equal second worst record? Choco.

This isn't just Hinkley. Holding on to coaches for too long is endemic at the AFL iteration of Port Adelaide.

How did McGuire's stooge end up on our board anyway? Afl plant?

If it's clear to see why does it keep failing. Hinkley is such idiot.

That Tom Morris now has one of the bigger platforms and exposure of any media person is a testament to the power of racism, homophobia, and sexism.

I'm not a Tom Morris fan, but you honestly attribute his success to those things? So basically you're saying he's a racist, a homophobe and a sexist, and somehow everyone that's involved in him getting to where he's at is somehow a racist, homophobe or sexist, and they see those qualities in him and decide throw money at him or give him a show or something based on those qualities alone? Because that WOULD be a testament to the power of those things. Otherwise it would at best be a testament to the power of people to ignore those things, or it could be a testament to the power of market forces or even how well he does his job (somehow I think you would disagree).
