You're fairly on the money here. One of the main reasons Koch gives Ken so much praise is because Ken has cracked the absolute shits whenever Koch criticised the footy program in public or private. It's why you haven't heard Koch say a bad thing about Ken and the coaching ever since the extension after the 2017 EF.
Weak as p...

Personally Koch cannot be as good on the financials as you say. Bringing in cash just so you can burn it on under performing coaching box and lost attendances couldn't be lost on anyone with basic maths skills.

Throwing good money after bad is a fairly easy concept to understand.

If your football committee recommends an extension (these are, after all, people put in place to make sound decisions join the interests of your club's football program), it would be quite a step to override them. Not impossible, nor unprecedented, but you might be looking for more than just a coach as a result.

If as its been said that committee includes thr CEO, GM Football, your effective 2ic on the board, ex players and an ex footy GM, you'd want to trust them.

Koch should be thinking about who sits on the footy committee almost as much as the coach right now
Nope obvious correct answer was "Well looks like not only are we looking for a new coach but also a new CEO, GM and football experts"

That really is weird. Why then jump the shark last year and renew his contract early?

Why do any of the 2017, 2021 and 2023 extensions if that is indeed the case.

Makes absolutely zero sense.
Koch said he wanted Hinkley to be a ten year coach at Port and when that was achieved he doubled down and said he wanted him to be a twenty year coach. Koch's ego and his belief that stability eventually brings success is why he is open to the recommendation to continue to extend Hinkley's contract. CD has a vested interest in making recommendations to keep his greyhound syndicate mate employed.

"still standing" means, despite Port fans hating him, the league gets their way and keeps the patsy in charge to drag this great club down. they don't want Port winning flags they want it spread out between Vic franchises and their interstate bird franchises. they will probably gift Ken a flag with Tasmania with the best support around him you've ever seen.
Just get him out of our club, don't care after that

It could be a lot worse. AJ Auxerre in France kept the same coach from 1961 until 2005 - and won 10 trophies... He didn't win the league with them until 95/96.

I don't want Port to become this.

Port are playing 1st, 2nd and 4th in their next five matches.

They are also facing Adelaide again in another derby and Melbourne in Melbourne.

Considering they struggled against Richmond, Port very easily could lose every match for the rest of the year.

Hence Ken and his mob crew cooking up this ridiculous story about West Coast ranking him no. 1 among their candidates.

Because there is no way that this story will be remotely plausible once Matthew Nicks and co. have slapped him around.

27k to a Saturday night game against a team with a massive fan base should be ringing alarm bells. And I think it was, given that finbarr and I and I'm sure thousands of others got emailed free tickets to the rest of our games this year.

The club knows crowds are dwindling but (so far) refuses to do the one and only thing that will bring them back. I'll happily pay out my $600 to go see us play under a new coach next year. I wouldn't go see us under Hinkley next year if they paid me.
That really p*sses me off. This club will do anything to save face. What about the members who paid good money to watch this rubbish. They continue to devalue membership & members. F**kn circus.

Not when the AFL elect your board.

One is not like the others. Yet, it’s commonly used as paradigm to justify the decisions to keep Hinkley.

To add to this, the manager's name is Guy Roux. He was in charge of Auxerre for 44 years, and to be fair, you are selling him short. This guy is nothing like Ken. Auxerre has been a quite financially unstable club for most of its 118-year history. When Guy Roux took over in 61, he was given the position of player-manager while the club was playing in the fourth division of French football. Roux believed that a strong infrastructure was paramount to long-term success, and with a very minimal budget, his aim was to build a very strong youth academy, which he did by producing players like Eric Cantona, Pascal Vahirua, Raphael Guerreiro, Djibril Cissé, and Philippe Mexès, to name a few, and selling them for millions through the academy and very good business in the transfer market, acquiring gems. Auxerre when on and won Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and the and the UEFA Intertoto Cup when they were a big thing and a regular in Champions League football, especially in the nineties and naughties.

My point is that bloke took and built the foundations for long-term success and got it by taking a team from near the German border to France during the war when he took over as player-manager when Auxerre was still in the fourth division of French football to win Ligue 1 and Champions League football. This story is similar to that of Leicester winning the Premier League in 2016. Incredible work by Guy Roux.

Ken as “Jose Mourinho said famously when he was at Chelsea about Arsène Wenger, Arsenal manager at the time, in the weekly press conference before Chelsea match against Arsenal. “He’s a specialist in failure,” and thats what Ken is a specialist in failure, and that is what his whole tenure will ever be summarised as.

Well that's why he will be gone soon enough - regardless of whether or not he ends up at West Coast.

Ken doesn't have many supporters left at the Club - certainly not in the areas where the decision making is had.
Which also shows how derelict they have been in their duty. Why the sudden change in support? Surely it cant just be Tredders pointing out what many on this board have known for years. I'm quite confused by this. Happy but confused.
