Who else are they going to get??!!
Ken attracts players (lol)
Ken is coaching better than ever (wHaT?)

* this club

It’s a tough competition (because we insist on competing blindfolded, with one arm tied behind our backs).

This one shits me, as we were a significant lot of peoples second team, because we played attacking, exciting football that was winning games, that people enjoyed watching. Like 'a long term coach equals success' Koch gets it back the front. Be a successful team, with a style that isn't like sticking forks in the eyes as you inch it up the field and we'll be plenty of fans second team. Have a coach whose successful AND THEN he'll be a long term coach.
I'm not sure why being liked by others is so important. Clarkson never bothered with such things, and his strategies netted 4 flags. Port is currently a classic case of, "Nice guys finish last."

wanting to be other supporters' second favourite team is surely the most un-Port Adelaide thing possible. As soon as that statement was out of his mouth Koch should have been fired into the sun

Spot on. Being hated for the previous 140 years didn't seem to do the club much harm

TV types love to be loved but it is interesting to compare Koch with McGuire. When it came to matters Collingwood, Eddie couldn't care less about losing popularity because he defended the interests of his club. He would have had to think pretty hard about his choice if offered "it's your job or it's Collingwood - you can't have both." Koch likes to think of Port as a little club from the suburbs. He wants to keep it that way. Everything Port does revolves around the President's convenience. 'We'll, I have time this week to warn Ken, but I won't have time to sack him or be involved in finding someone else. We're good for another year at least." Koch would risk zero to make Port a better club. No risk, no reward.

Koch is absolutely nothing like McGuire. McGuire lives and breathes football and Collingwood specifically. He understands the game, but more importantly he also understands the politics. He has completely and entirely infiltrated both the AFL and the Victorian Goverment (nearly one in the same these days) and been crucial to orchestrating the corrupt MCG deal which greatly aides Collingwood, the Big Vic MCG clubs, the MCG and Melvourne/Victoria in general to the detriments of those beyond those borders. He also controls media and therefore controls narrative. Koch is just a puppet, told what to say and to basically be a big goof. Koch continually gets played for the fool. He is actually an idiot. As much as I despise McGuire with every inch of my being, he runs a bazillion rings around Koch....and everybody with any clout in the AFL world knows it.

All the smoke Gerard & Robbo blew up his [and the club’s] arse circa 13/14 was such a double-edged sword.

I've posted before that Koch wants everyone to like him. His desire for Port Adelaide to be every non-Ports supporter's second team is just an extension of that. This is one reason he is such an ineffectual club chairman. Another major reason is that he knows feck all about how to run a successful football club. If he had any idea Hinkley would have been sacked six years ago.

Koch's stability at all costs approach is not how high level sport works, he's so invested in it that if Hinkley won a flag 17 years deep he'd feel vindicated.

Campaigner has to go he's burning careers as much as old mate.
The thing is, if (heaven forbid) we were to keep Ken for another 7 years, I'd be ecstatic if he were to win a flag at the 17th attempt. But the odds of it actually happening would be similar to the odds of me getting a hole in one.

And McGuire’s stooge, CEO of McGuire Media and JAM-TV, a dude named Cos Cardone, was chosen as a Club director by Koch in 2012 and has remained ever since in the Alberton board room hiding right under Koch’s nose in the gigantic shadow it casts … reporting back to McGuire as and when he sees fit … totally unchallenged.

Beat that.

We could absolutely be a top 8 team in 2023. Even top 4 if we get a good draw and things go really well. But there is zero chance we're winning 3 finals games in a row against top 4 opposition to win a flag.

We won't be terrible, we'll just be mediocre. Like always.

With Finlayson in ruck and no backman still to stop the big forwards, ken thinking small forwards are all we need ,we are a 6-12th side

We exist to be mediocre.....

A team that we beat in the previous 2 finals series, including by 43 points last year, has won 15 games in a row on their way to a grand final. We on the other hand are sat in 11th with people actually thinking that adding a tall defender or hanging onto pick 9 and grabbing some player that has never played a game before will make any difference short, medium or long term. It's all in culture and coaching and the only way to change the culture is to change the coach.

Did my end of season survey last night - I let them know in no uncertain terms that I'm not happy, and won't be renewing my membership until Ken is gone. I also ticked the box to have someone from the club call me about my answers, but like last time, I'm not expecting the phone to ring, because I had nothing nice to say about the club.

I did the same but I don't think they read them TBH. Will be my last survey for a while I guess. Probably won't rejoin as a member until Koch is gone.

I know Jordan Hinkley (Thunderpants) will probably say good riddance but I was living in Perth in 2011 when the club was in dire straights and purchased a family Platinum membership to help even though I couldn't attend games. I did that to save the club I love. Where were you Thunderpants? I have been a member ever since until now. Your dad and Koch ****ed this club hard. Yo can take your good riddance and shove it up your ass.
