Good to see Gardiner and Schneider back from their injuries, and the G-Train although he didn't do too well last week in the VFL.

Some very handy ins there. Nervous about how the G-Train will go though. Still M. Gardiner and Schneider are huge plusses. Richmond are going in unchanged from last week btw I believe

Looks like we intend to score a few goals this week...

I like the emergencies :

McEvoy - in case Gardiner has to pull out (again)

Allen - would probably have been in if it weren't for Gehrigs record against Richmond

Raph Clarke - as I said in another thread, I admit that I like him and would like to see him in a new position in case Schneider has to pull out (again)

I am a bit suprised to see Leigh Fisher and Blake dropped, as both, while not the most talented, will never be short of full commitment and courage. I suppose that this indicates that Lyon wants to start playing football rather than preventing the other team from playing football.

, and the G-Train although he didn't do too well last week in the VFL.

From the video footage he seemed to actually go quite well.

From what had ben written I was expecting to see a disinterested GTrian.

What I saw instead was a quite engaged GTrain playing on a HF doing his best to get his team-mates into the game.

It was only 17 minutes of highlights...but he looked quite ok to me.

I'm with you pal:thumbsu:

flipping great to see Schneids and Gardi back. Feel much more confident now that we have a competent ruckman. Plus Schneider just adds that much X-factor to the game, should kick a couple.

Agreed ... I thought he looked good - even chased some guy down from behind.

Very good ins and very good outs. We got rid of some baggage, and gained some skill and class.

Great to see McEvoy in the emergencies, must be closer to a senior debut than most of us thought.

Alot of people are underestimating us this week. I really think we'll see good team performance from a more spirited st kilda outfit.:thumbsu::)

For the sake of my dream team I hope Armitage holds his spot. He was fantastic in his first game and as a neutral I would be guessing he is competing for his spot with C.Jones?

If Gehrig is no good it will be because they have a good defender (or defenders) on him, then we still have Schneider, or CG or of coarse Koshi or Roo to kick a bag. Lets see how good the Tigers defence is. It is interesting that they have listed Del Santo in the half forward.
It is a good list and flexible enough to move players around if required.

yeh def agree with stfan when they go on about how gehrig has only scored 1 point you think one of his 2 possesion games but he had plenty of ball and did quite a bit of setting up so think he deserves game this week and hell at least draw away a good defender. def impressed with team this week big ins hopefully we can get back to some good form!

When we saw footage of Fraser's effort during half time of the Port game they made it sound like he didn't get a touch. Apparently he had 4 goal assists for the game. I'd sure as hell take 4 goal assists tomorrow night, even if he doesn't look like kicking a goal.

Gehrig's inclusion may have been a slight surprise but Gardiner and Schneider were always going to come straight back in when fit. Gardiner will slot straight back into the ruck and Schneider gives us the dangerous midfielder/half forward option which we've lacked in recent weeks.

I'm a little surprised to see Blake dropped. I would have thought he'd be the obvious candidate for Richo if he plays on the wing. It looks like that job will go to Dempster now. I didn't think Leigh Fisher had been too bad but a run in the seconds won't hurt. I'm happy to see players having to force their way into the seniors via good VFL form rather than through injuries as is normally the case with us. Rix making way for Gardiner or King was obvious.

We've got a good team and they've got a lot to prove after last week. No excuses.

I doubt Gardiner (M) will play, just a feeling.

We look very tall and if they clog up we could struggle to score again. Hopefully having every tall we possibly can in the team it means we will get it down there quickly.

I am very suprised to see C Gardiner, Gehrig, Kosi and Roo all in the one team. WOuld be great if it worked, but looks to be we are trying to stretch their height rather than run with them. Good to see we are going with our strength and playing our own game.

Good Team this time... lots of midfield types while still have having a lot of talls.

I think with Fraser it is a "lack of interest" issue at most times.... rather than anything else... but coming back in, he should be fired up.

PS - I think it might be a shootout!

One of our best teams this year on paper.

Especially skill wise (ie L Fish and Blake can sometimes suffer from the poor decision making bug). Those two still definitely have a spot on the list in future, just fitting them into the 22 with no injuries is going to be hard.

Who are the players to still come back? King and Gilbert come to mind.

Gehrig only kicked one point last week ... but had four goal assists. I will take four goal assists from him this week, especially with his arthritic hands.

Good ins, I am also happy that McEvoy is close. Hopefully we will go in as selected. Wouldn't be surprised to see Riewoldt up the ground on Richo.

With McEvoy as an emergency, I wonder whether Gardi has a question mark over him.

I don't understand what they are doing with Rix. I understand he is only back-up but he would give more value at AFL level than McEvoy right at the current time (maybe the club is giving him a boost by naming him as an emergency).

Sam F to Richo for mine (unless he plays deep where Max will take him).

I don't mind Blakey, but lately he has only been of value this year as a pinch hit ruckman. His decision making has been ordinary, and he's fallen over about six times without physcial pressure which I hate to see (X and BJ got this out of their game over time but Blakey has not).

Good to see Birss hang onto his spot. Excepting that poo kick for goal last week, he is one of our cleaner kicks of the ball and I prefer it in his hands than most (although could get it a bit more!).

Agree with this comment. Birss has a lot more upside than a lot of other players.

Also great to see McEvoy as emergency. I have faith in the selection panels decision re this bloke. He's prob better than Ackland without even playing a game lol.

Also was just looking at the team again and I still think we lack a good HFF. Does anyone at all agree Goddard could play a role there when Dal is getting heavily tagged, and Dal can take Goddards role at HB? It'll give us an extra midfielder (effectively) and a good forward option and quarterback from half back.

Would expect Chucky G and X would play at HF for significant parts of the game, and would surprise to see Harvey play there much.

The club seems to be trying to groom another one, with Fergie and Raph playing forward with Casey. Allen is another obvious one who will hopefully kick goals consistently at Casey and press for selection. I agree we need another option.

I would much rather see McEvoy get some experience than to play Rix again. I think Goddard has played forward in the past, I also wonder how Dal would go in the forward line, he has not been so effective in the mid but I think he is a good kick for goal.
I wondered if Dempster could play on Richo but haven't really seen enough of him to know.

hey mate leave this crap out to the dream team forum you turnip. do you think anyone here gives a bucket of horsecrap how your dream team is going

Did Geary let out a fart on the team bus back to the airport? I do wonder what he has done wrong to be taken over the Adelaide which means he misses both that week playing for Casey and also this week as Casey don't seem to be playing. Then he doesn't even get picked as an emergency and they go with 3 tall guys?

Gears - if you're going to let one rip, make sure it isn't in the coach's face.

Im with you FOXY DAL im not a Blake fan either but then again im not a Raph Clarke or Matt Maguire fan either . All too clumsy and turn the ball over too much. I think the best thing thats happened for us this year is the return of Brendon Goddard. Playing as solid as ever and sharp off the boot unlike most of the others at the moment. if we come out firing and convert some early goals we should clean up Richmond . Theyve won a couple of easy games and are starting to have people thinking as has happened many times but i think this is an opportunity to bring them back down to earth and gain us back some confidence.
