Gee will be interesting to see who actually gets a game and who misses out as 15 Sainters named but can only play 12 against Frankston. Noticed Tom Lynch not named and Tom Simpkin musn't have come up but will be due back soon. Pretty strong looking team and should have Frankston's measure but looking forward to Sunday
How's your boy holding up after last week - that was a rough match for the fella. Tell him to stay strong.

yeah he is ok. They thought he did ok last week. Kept the big FF to 2 goals out of 19 and there was something like 58 inside 50's, he's looking forward to this week against frankston as a lot of his mates play there that he played junior and TAC footy with and against and his old Saint mate Tuki

BEST:
Frankston: Westcott Gabriel Mitchell Bosward Proctor Miller
Sandringham: Steven Stanley Clarke Eddy Gaertner Magner

Fantastic win, and good to see the Sainters in the team dominating the bests.

Obviously we have a small hole to fill in our fwd line this week. Any reports on the games of Cahill, McEvoy and Stanley would be appreciated.
was a pretty even team performance by Sandy. Thought the standouts were Jack Steven and Raph Clarke and think Raph might come in as he is a class above the rest, was great to see Jack Steven come back from injury to play so well and if a mid goes down he will step straight in. Everyone else just did their job and didn't really stand out to me but all played solid and there where no real passengers

Dunno SS - Raph (based on last week and B10's assessment today) should be able to perform a role down back, releasing Fish forward if required. Whilst he's an AA running defender, I'd rather a proven AFL performer at FF than an untested player or a ruckman. Great so see some of the other names in the best, although as B10 said before the game Frankston do have a lot of kids.

It will be interesting to see if Stanley or Cahill get a game or whether we'll bring back McEvoy instead.

We had a pretty charmed run with injuries last season and as we've seen it's unrealistic to expect it would happen again so it's really important to have the likes of Raph and Jack pushing for selection.

Round 1 - 2010 V Frankston

... The “premiership quarter” was a different story with Sandringham winning plenty of contested ball and kicking seven goals to two to blow the game right open. Rhys Stanley went into the ruck and was dominant whilst Raph Clarke provided dash and creativity off half back ...

Tom Lynch and Simpkin were both at Frankston...

Match was played in pretty average conditions...a howling easterly gale blowing right off the bay and that meant straight down the ground...

Sandy got first use of the wind and were very disappointing....in fact Frankston got the first goal of the game....ended up 3 goals to 1 at 1/4 time

2nd quarter was marginally better...Sandy scored 2 against the wind while Frankston got 4 with it...

All in all a very poor 1st half by Sandy

3rd quarter was much better...Stanley in the ruck stood out as did Jack Steven...Raph played the best game I've seen of him in Sandy colours...when he gets the ball and starts to run you tend to cringe a bit in case he gets run down or bounces the ball and he loses it...Cahill was alternating with Sautner and full forward..they got 5 between them..
7 goals for the 1/4 was a good return...was a bit annoying that Frankston scored 2 goals very late in the term..

Last 1/4 and the wind had toned down....3 goals to Sandy against it and 2 points to Frankston gave Sandy a 49 point win

Most of the interest St Kilda wise was who would push for senior selection after Roo's injury..imho it would be Rhys Stanley...Big Ben McEvoy is way too slow...he is a very good mark and fair ruckman but Stanley has height, pace and can kick the ball...

good news that stanley is pushing for selection. the only thing that concerns me is that he gets pushed under the ball to easily. in the nab cup he was good when he found space but no good when trying to take a mark stationary. i'm still hoping that he gets the call up.

I think that will determine who gets selected.
If Lyon wants someone to stay in the goal square and try to take stationary marks ( while Fisher plays at HF ) then McEvoy is probably in.
If he wants someone to play more the Nick Riewolt role, - Stanley.

Looks like Rhys is on standby for the Saints game. Not surprising.

Eddy, Macca, PC, Alias, Wool, Will J, Patto, Jack, Drago, Heyney, Leigh Fish. Think maybe Hutchings too (#43)..

As always we're grateful for the updates Squizzy :thumbsu:

Couldn't make it today with the Saints game being on later, but should be able to make it to a few games this year.

Bit of a wasteful first quarter. 6.6 to 4.1 against slight breeze. Macca dominated ruck but Daw was sent into the middle (great leap!). Two late goals to Macca from 40+. Jack and Eddy fumbly but everywhere. PC a bit disappointing in the air (on Pask) but some good efforts at ground level. Drago's man has got away a couple of times, but only through good passes. Johnson playing much better down back. Most of the Saints boys playing well.

Up by about 4 goals at 3/4 time.

Very impressed by Macca, who took a bunch of marks backing into packs.

Jack was burning the turf. Far too quick for most opponents.

First look at Hutchings - heaps of ticker and knows where the ball is. Fairly skinny though.

Bumped into Tommy S at Etihad. Back next week.
