SANFL Round 11

Crows fans would be pretty excited with Gill, Hentschel and Walker all starring this weekend. Could have done with some height in the forward line last night...

Down at Noarlunga today McGregor had a pretty quiet first 3 quarters at CHB. He didn't do anything wrong, but didn't stand out at all. He was moved to Full Forward in the last quarter and presented well and kicked a goal. Didn't make any claims for AFL selection though.

Hentschel was fantastic at CHF, kicking 4 goals (I think). He isn't leaping or moving like he was, as expected, but he is a natural footballer and his ability to read the play and finish puts him a class above at league level. I see no reason why he can't be played for the Crows next week and hopefully build towards September.

Jacky played his best game for the Eagles today. He had an excellent first quarter and was busy again in the last. Seemed to fade out during the middle stages of the game. He combined well with Petrenko out of the back line on several occasions and I wouldn't mind seeing him used in that role again for the Eagles. His defensive skills are questionable, but he is a work in progress and can hopefully start putting 4 quarters together with the Eagles.

Petrenko was very good off half back. Just looks the player out there and wouldn't be out of his depth if needed to play at AFL level next week. Only thing, does he have a left foot?

Have you seen Aishes younger brother play yet Drummond?
Nope not yet.

Walker's sixth, when did this goal come? Because I'm pretty sure I would have remembered it if it was down my end and the goal goal that came in the 3rd term was that of Aish. I might have missed it and it could have been in the 4th term but I seriously don't recall him kicking a sixth goal.

From what I heard on Life FM it was a roving/crumbing goal in Q3

Went down to Sawf's home ground today.

Kenny played a backline role again today, was swapped from CHB, to FB to even at one stage a loose man in defence. He did not do any outstanding things and indeed had a few clangers. In the last Q he was moved to FF (much to his relief I am sure) and he really did create a contest, was the spearhead to the Eagles comeback and win. Ken got in the best, not sure where though.

Hentschel played a natural CHF position. Was the focus of most of the Eagles forward attack along with Schwarz and later on Kenny. Hentschel pushed up the ground well and lead strong, took plenty of marks and kicked 4 goals. Always made a contest and even got a few loose ball gets. A couple of weeks ago I was saying he was atleast 1-2 months away from making a come back for the Crows, but I honestly think he is ready to take a CHF position for the Crows this week, even as a supporting act with Burton. Hentschel got 2nd best (from reports)

The games in which I've seen Jacky play it amazes me that he has played AFL already. Again today I was amazed at this fact, although he probably had his best 'SANFL league' game. He made many blunders, including one where he handballed to Torney coming out of defense (aiming for Kenny though). Sometimes he is smooth, but his disposal isn't great. Played Ressie's last week, probably did him a world of good. But still...it amazes me he has played AFL.

Petrenko was VERY solid. Great skills, hard at it. Great run, a bit of Mcleod in him. His run out of the backlines sometimes was exellent, the disposal hitting Hentschel on the tit made a few Crowies fans a little exited (even of the Sawf Adelaide variety). Hard ball gets, exellent. Even at one stage was standing the FF (don't know how that came about). But yeah, if he keeps improving and his body holds up then I think we might have found a gem here.

So only midfielders can be aggressive???::confused:

I was just offering your typical definition of "aggressive" since you didn't offer one and I initially thought you were asking a serious question.

However, the fact you asked twice and when offered an answer or at least the chance to explain your question so we could understand and answer it.

It now makes me think you were merely trolling.

If you were really a Sturt fan you could have quite easily found the scores yourself you ____ing lazy ____.
You ________
Never crossed my mind to check the Sturt homepage first.........:rolleyes:

Thanks to all who report on these games. This is my favourite thread each week as I love hearing about our young boys and the not so young for that matter (Gill, Hentschel etc).

This is the first year that I can honestly say that I don't mind when we lose. Intinially it's hard to cop but then I keep thinking to my thoughts before the season, that we will seriously be a contender in 2010.

All I want is these kids to come on and if we make the finals this year that is a bonus. If we don't I keep thinking how good our first draft pick is going to be this year (I hope).

Cheers again people.:thumbsu:

Walker has Stewie Lowe hands!

Apart from maybe Dangerfield, I am sorry but Walker is the most exciting kid on our list. He is a FOOTBALLER through and through. Will be amazing.

Stats are up. Gill had a blinder! Jacky wasn't as bad as people seemed to think either, and Hentschel had a nice day out. Walker is exciting as can be - I love his goalkicking accuracy!

Gill: 21 disposals (14K, 7H), 13 marks, 2 FF, 1 FA, 1 tackle, scored 4.2
McGregor: 13 disposals (8K, 5H), 2 marks, 1 FF, 2 FA, scored 1.0
Petrenko: 16 disposals (10K, 6H), 3 marks, 1 FF, 3 FA, 1 tackle, no score
Jacky: 28 disposals (11K, 17H), 3 marks, 1 FF, 1 FA, 2 tackles, scored 0.1
Hentschel: 14 disposals (12K, 2H), 5 marks, 2 FF, 1 tackle, scored 4.1
Walker: 12 disposals (8K, 4H), 4 marks, 2 FF, 0 tackles, scored 5.0

So Walker has kicked 14 goals straight in the past 2 weeks.

Can we just get him in the side as the equivalent of the field kicker in rugby??
Tippett marks. Oh no! He's cramped up. Walker to take the kick.

Burton marks. Oh no! He's cramped up. Walker to take the kick. :p
