Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

any love for The Chad out there?? i've got him on the maybe pile, valued @ 380,600 by all account it fighting fit, has been know to get good score thought he is getting a bit long in the tooth there still might be a few good games in him. could be worth holding onto for a while get some points and a bit of cash and then use him to upgrade.

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

One word, no. Will play his best footy in the pre-season and resume to be a crab once round 1 starts, if he is in their 22 to begin with.
Ok i'm going to get rid of him. Do you know a better option around the same price or lower?

I've picked up Chad, taking a bit of a punt on him, but he's relatively cheap, and he has rigged himself out over the preseason, looks ready to tear some games (and players) apart

Andy Otten is by far the best choice at that price range. Also look at the high quality rookies that are backs such as Heppell from Essendon, Watson from Carlton or Toy from GC as a couple of examples off the top of my head as opposed to below average players that have been on AFL lists for years without doing much. Also mature age recruits such as Duigan or Hibberd will more than likely (particularly Duigan) play from round 1 and therefore are a decent option for half the price. Darcy Daniher from Essendon could be another one that gets plenty of game time.

Jacobs would have been a lock but he's got glandular fever unfortunately.

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

I'm really struggling to pick my last premium defender. Current premiums are Goddard Gibbs Deledio Broughton.

Have Johncock currently but also thinking about Enright, Newman and Gilbee. Thoughts? And besides Freo or Saints players(have enough already) I have only ruled out Lake (no pre-season) and Drummond(Injury)

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

Here's how mine is looking at present. I'd appreciate some feedback:

B. Goddard
B. Delidio
R. Murphy
N. Krakouer
J. Gibson
A. Otten

D. Heppell
N. Duigan
D. Stanley
M. Coad

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

I've currently got Jack Grimes in my team. A move into the midfield sounds promising.

I've got Sam Fisher. He's Mr Consistent.

I know you said you have too many Saints players, but can you replace one in your mids/forwards?

I was thinking Fisher, but not sure if he will play different with Gilbert moving forward? Only have Goddard and Riewoldt.

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

Hargrave won't play till round 8 Atleast

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

haha, I made that mistake last year.

Goddard is one of maybe 3 players that every serious team should have from the get go.

Did it with Ablett last year and worked had goodard from the start last season my only locks are Judd, Roo and another 2 rookies
whats ur thoughts on greenwood and c.bolton

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

Barring injury or another disaster, Brendon Goddard is not likely to drop any more then $80-100k in value early in the season. The question is, will the points you lose from NOT having him eclipse this possible (and arguably unlikely) decline?

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

what are people's thoughts on marcus drum at $172 ????
cheap i thought.....

Drummy has been unluckily injured quite a bit recently but training the house down. I expect him to see a few games but not sure if Gillies is in front of him.

Greenwood? check where Kangas play him early on.. Keep an eye on him. Craig Bolton?? nah, not an SC'er, key position and had the dreaded achilles injury hanging around last year so it could go again.

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

I've been contemplating Callum Wilson (WCE). He's a Def/Fwd which is handy as I also have Gilbert (Def/Fwd) and was thinking about possibly getting one of Talia, Smedts or Retzlaff too (all Def/Fwd). I just need some convincing from someone/people in the know.... Can anyone give mea reason to not get him??

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

Sometimes Fisher has to play a full back type role which reduced his score in 2010 over 2009.
Gilbert moving forward and Dawson having a good pre-season ( but with a hickup ) may have more of a run and carry role this year. But with Gilbert playing forward he may be more likely to pick up a reverse tag. He hasn't always worn a tag well.
I'd still expect him to get at least a reasonable score though.

Re: 2011 SC Defenders Discussion Thread

what does everyone think of N.Krakouer? if not who else around his price, and sam gilbet thumbs up or down?
