Official Match Thread Season 36, First Preliminary Final: Gumbies FFC versus Baghdad Bombers at House of Gumby

In S33, the Bombers’ full-forward at the time - TheCoach16 - was unceremoniously dumped mid-season from the playing list in a bitter blow to his supporters.

The obvious option to replace him was a scrawny young rookie on the half-forward flank who’d shown he could kick straight but wasn’t keen on hard physical work.

gab213 was smart though, and could argue with umpires, coaches, teammates, friends …. in fact anyone spouting bull****! So he quickly joined the LG and Jabba73 took him under his wing as backup on the Committee.

By the time finals came, he was a key pillar in the flag tilt and proved to be a huge factor on the big day, kicking 9 goals and leading the way to our 6th flag.

The next season, not only did he establish himself as one of the most accurate kicks in the history of the SweetFA, but he also won the Fred Medal, the TFLUA Medal and a place in the ALL-SFA.

Well-regarded throughout the league he is a true leader at Baghdad and has even been known to hand the ball off if a player is in a better position.

Congratulations gab213 on making the 50-game milestone and hope we can do it justice tomorrow.
