Thats a good point, mind you from what I've been told Martinis are better with worse quality gins, I normally use Gordons although I have used more expensive ones.

For me, as a person who doesn't like Gin, its in the Dry Vermouth.

I usually use Tanqueray. I've used cheaper (e.g. Fleischmann's) but the cheaper the gin the more likely the headache.

I rarely buy top shelf booze, and when I do I almost never mix it, except maybe a little filtered water.
