I spent a fair bit of time around the Patea area in New Zealand. The freezing works closed, and like most country towns with only one main employer, life turned to shit for residents. The local people down the marae came up with a plan to get the community together and make a music video. It spent four weeks on the charts at #1 and is still an absolute banger.

Speaking of tunes, how did you find this song contest round?
Personally I was very disappointed that a couple of nommers chose this round to nominate classics that have charted
I was also spoilt for billy choice
But in the end I found 5 songs that deserved votes and were true to the spirit of 'new music'

Yes, I was disappointed that people made a mockery of the theme and nominated classics that have charted when the memo was for no top 100 songs

It's not as bad as a certain someone not listening to every song on the playlist in entirety at least once and voting minutes after the release , but it's up there

There were still tunes that I'll listen to again but I expect that every round. It's the genre-based rounds which don't meet that brief.

In this case, new to the contest/host and new to enough people that it hasn't charted anywhere in the world at anytime (past or present)
