Stay in touch. Stay in touch. BOOM.

Second week in a row, played out the script to perfection. Was very confident of a win at 3 quarter time. It's all been said but Berry and Fort had special second halves.

Awesome to be there with my son to see the game; his first final. Was in the members and mostly Melbourne people around us. Only disappointment was the pissed up Melbourne supporting flog (from the Gold coast, incidentally) who did his best to spoil the game, leaving before the final siren. If you're looking in...

Hahahahahahaha. Now, hopefully my contact can get us into the same spot next week. A game for the ages. Hair on the back of the neck stuff.

Stay in touch. Stay in touch...
The game had a bit of the 2001 GF feel about it - in terms of the way the game flowed - which I reflected on walking the dog this morning.

Missed the game and working through the replay now (i'm at the start of 4th) but Fort had a huge influence on the game and arguably is my BOG so far. He just completely nullified Gawn in the third, was winning clearances and his little blocks and taps to our mids was first class. When the game was on the line and Lions had to respond he was the man. He's a better player than Big O IMO when given the chance to play number 1 ruck. Always steps up.

EDIT: I highly recommend everyone to watch the third quarter again and see the work Fort does. unheralded.

In fact I'm going to go as far as to say that despite people here getting it completely wrong and going off their nut over Zorko for days on end the moment where we started to get mental ascendency over Melbourne was when Petty started crying.

They've never recovered from that. It showed a fragility that both teams who have played them since have been able to use to their benefit.

We did it! Behind the goals with all the other lions fans! They were amazing and the roar. The moment where Hugh kicked that goal - the place erupted!

Hands red, both of us no voice and home after 2am- reliving every moment on the way home driving in auto pilot!

No matter what happens from here. No one can take that special moment away from my daughter and I, our first ever win at a ground together! We dared to dream and we kept fronting up and we got it!
Bring on Friday night- we will be back again!

Went to the game. Flew down at a cost of more than $700 although free tickets helped.

15 minutes in, turned to the old man and said - this could be 100 points. I couldn't believe our lack of confidence and appetite for the contest. The same old dump kicks. It looked doomed.

There was a bit of luck with some Melbourne misses, but the last 10 minutes re started to settle and really hit them hard.

It still looked like we could lose touch in the second. How vital was that Ah Chee goal? A reminder of the element of luck. Siren goes a few seconds earlier, do we still win? If the ARC had followed the normal process (albeit giving the wrong result) we would be bundled out in week one. Now off to a prelim.

One of the best nights i have ever had at the footy. You could sense the supporters and players start to believe together. We are in this. We might win this. ONE MORE GOAL WE HAVE THIS! Our ability to come back when Melbourne re-established that 2 goal lead was most impressive in the third. Nobody dropped their head or lost concentration. Red time was our friend for once.

Thought the umps helped them a bit early. We had a better run in the last. There was a clear holding the ball paid at CHF for us, Rayner or Linc

Interesting to see a few people saying supporters were wrong to question Fagan. Disagree with this - a lot of people wanted more speed and spread, and thought that Lyons and Matho couldn't give that. The changes were what we wanted.

To Fagan's credit he eventually realised something had to give after the last Melbourne loss. What a blessing that might have been. And he had the fortitude to drop Mathieson which was harsh but got a better team v Melbourne. We swapped our total obsession with contested possession to getting more balance with run and spread.

I was a bit ambivalent about Fullarton but to Fagan's credit I thought Fullarton did a job, just competing hard. Good call from the coach.

I am happy to say i jumped the gun on Rich - thought he looked like he was slowing down badly. Still think he is slowly on the way out but boy was he good. His toughness is underrated. Got a bad concussion v Gold Coast this year but has not taken a backwards step since.

I thought Fort was superb. Such a scrapper. And yet cannot see him playing next week. Stiff for the bloke, tries his heart out, plays well, and yet even after he moves states he will be watching next week from the sidelines.

Don't really understand how it works. Thought Starc and Trac were better than their rankings.

Can see it was Zorko and Ah Chee who did some big work in the 2nd qtr.

All it took was help from Brolly Berry
I'm still trying to work out where that came from from Berry. We've always had high hopes for him but he's never shown the capacity to produce a midfield 2nd half like that before against outstanding opposition.

You could see Melbourne were gassed and looked a bit tired into the 3rd quarter but many of his possessions were just out Petraccaing Petracca.

I'm so pleased for him because he's had more than enough to deal with injury wise throughout his career and being able to do that in such a match will be a great confidence boost.

It'll be a travesty if they rub him out.

That's nuts. Petracca was excellent all things considered. Zorks played a very controlled game and his disposal was 1st class . Let Berry and Neale take over the game but always there as a reliable back up. His clearance to get it to Cal with about 10 seconds to go in the 2nd was at the high end of elite and you could see when the guys were coming off they were pumped.
