Let's see if we can go back to back with the 3yos in the European Group 1s this weekend with CIRCUS MAXIMUS in the Moulin at Longchamp. Romanised is a deserved fave but has never been one of mine and the drop back to the mile is a classic lads play where his last two have seen him win the St James Palace and be nutted by Too Darn Hot in the Sussex. This is normally form good enough to win a race like this and he looks a decent bet at 7/2.

Ok my take on yesterdays races.

I freaking love The Inevitable even though i didnt back it yesterday cos i dont trust Death Valley. Probably my fave horse at the moment. so honest and in pretty much every race it runs in this prep. Think it might end up WFA class.
Was wrong to pot Exhillerates although Sassy just as good a run as it. Why sassy didnt cross when it jumped a length in front i dont know... Think there is nothing between those two at the valley at least. Need to see Sassy elsewhere to have a full opinion on it but both just short of top class.
Homesman pretty impressive and is a live chance in the Cox plate if there is nothing semi decent from overseas and MJ doesnt run the distance. Surprise Baby ticking along nicely. Got a lot of upside and drugs ...
Libertini was ridden arrogantly and that drives me up the wall cos then they got to run impossible sectionals to beat the winner. She will be fine in faster run races. Not going to back her but wouldnt be surprised if she did win a race like the Everest given the quality of sprinter ATM
LOL @ nature strip.. might come out and win by 5 next time it meets the same field if its allowed to run. Its a weird horse. sometimes it does settle and sometimes not. I said it before and will say it again... a way better Lord Of the Skies like horse. I like how Paris said in Autumn Catzel would never win another race and claims it again yesterday like everyone's forgotten... not me
Samadoubt was nice, price was sweet with a boost.. ... but Avilius was fine.... I will say it again, he is a handicapper and not top class WFA but can get away with one with the right conditions and weakness of the field. Samadoubt proving 88 ratings class is good enough to thrash WFA fields these days.
Angel of Truth is the next Magicool... Those 3yo males from last season.. horrible...
Te Akau Shark plodded to the line. Nothing special ,, go back and win the Celt Stakes cos thats your ceiling.

Disagree re: Avilius and Te Akau Shark there Heath
On a track with a bigger leaders bias than John Holmes’ package they ran ok
Happy to be on both again
I didnt bag Avilius. he was fine, just as good as the winner but those horses arent good
Go have a look at how TAS finished off.. he raced on the best part of the track and then when pulled out he hardly got past ordinary horses. Not good enough for our WFA races

The shark’s main spring target I believe is the Epsom so Saturday’s race was ok preparation for it. Melody Belle is the top horse in NZ and is gunning for the Kelt so can understand the shark coming here.

Am looking forward to Danzdanzdanz in the Colgate optic White stakes in a fortnight

WTF are you talking about - good to see your literacy didn't improve at all over the Winter. I didn't claim it at all!?! I said in multiple posts I was on Nature Strip!?!?!? INCLUDING THE VERY FIRST POST AFTER THE RACE YOU *********!!!

Doesn't stop me from cheering on an old champion defying all the doubters (including me) and bouncing back to his best!!!! #goat

Ye think the Shark's run was completely fine for an Epsom if he gets an average horses weight. You could tell by his failure to run down Endless Dream first up he is no more than a middling handicapper.

iluvparis the French stewards were even on your side dismissing the protest

Would have been a full Maximum Security (or whatever the real KY Derby winner's name was) style melt if they had upheld it

Except Te Akau Shark zoomed past Melody Belle 1st up when he was absolutely slaughtered.....

Always worth noting if Grace Ramage tips a Hayes horse as she dates Ben. She tipped Harlem the day it won its Group 1 but I think she left it out on the weekend.

Now THAT is the inside info I expect from the punting board :thumbsu:
