What a shocking card at Caulfield, Randwick not so bad.
Had a browse at lunch today and it seems to be a massive card, 20 in each race, on a soggy track?

I'm going alright lately spread betting, the value should be there..but I'm $1.01 to get hammered on Saturday at Caulfield...I can see it coming . Sydney will indeed take my bigger confidence bets.

Some genuine quality at Randwick, looking forward to the return of English, think she is potentially the 2nd best 1200-1400M horse we have in the country.

Looking for a third leg to multi up Hartnell and Winx. Might be it. Might go over her past runs tonight for funsies

Her Autumn form was excellent, I didn't particularly rate her as a 2yo but went to a pretty good level as an Autumn 3yo.

Her two trials this time in have been good, think she is still on the up.

Interesting news today!

Azkadellia banned from racing whilst Racing Victoria Stewards investigate ownership 'bona fides'

Group One-winning mare Azkadellia is one of four Ciaron Maher-trained horses to be banned from racing whilst Racing Victoria Stewards investigate the particulars of their ownership.

In a Wednesday afternoon press release, RV Stewards advised that they had opened an investigation into the ownership 'bona fides' of four horses registered in the sole ownership of Ben Connolly, licensed Racing Manager for Ciaron Maher.

The four horses are Azkadellia, Hart, Loveable Rogue and Mr Simples, all of which are trained by Mr Maher.

The release stated:

"Mr Connolly and Mr Maher have been interviewed by Stewards and advised that, with immediate effect in accordance with Australian Rule of Racing 50, any entries for the four horses will be rejected by the Stewards until the investigation is concluded."

In June the Courier Mail reported that Gold Coast conman Peter Foster was being investigated for potentially holding an undisclosed financial interest in Azkadellia.

Foster has reportedly denied owning any stake in the star mare.

Tussle brewing over Azkadellia's prizemoney, but does Peter Foster hold secret financial interest

Azkadellia has won six races and over $1.5 million in prizemoney, with her biggest success coming in the Group One Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Randwick last autumn.

The trial I watched last night was amazing.

All up Hartnell Winx English

Worth remembering English always trials well, like most Waterhouse runners. Im sure she will run well but i wouldnt be getting too caught up in trial form

She trialed like a rocket before last campaign and I was cautious given I didn't have much of an opinion of her as a 2yo, her GS run was solid but the rest of her runs very moderate.

However she proved last campaign that she is a very good horse, her 3rd to Chautauqua in the TJ and her win in the All Aged are proof of that, she matched motors with Chautauqua until the last 200M in the TJ then beat our best 1400M horse in BHB and Kermadec in the All Aged, hard to knock that form.

Prepared to take it on face value that she is trialing well and therefore ready to run well.

i don't think theres a horse in the field that can beat English if she repeated her first up win last prep. given she trialled equally, i suggest she will run equally and all things equal she will be winning.

gifted at SW+P in this field and maps in a beautiful spot given the pace.

i've taken the conservative approach, but i think she's still slight value at the 2.6 but I can't see her staying there. surely most punters will like her race day.

My $20 has gone on winx (ladbrokes special)

Need to concede to Main Man - it seems they have been generous with the price given Tosen's inclusion :D

Couple of prices that caught my eye - 3yo colts in Sydney apparently a furlong better but Russian Revolution challenges Tango Rain for favouritism? Happy to be on the latter at the relative prices.

Tsaritsa way too short in Race 8 - huge Waller hype horse beaten easily on her merits here and this field is far tougher. Would love to know how fit Happy Clapper is

on raw form i completely agree but the keyword right there. untested on dry, looks a gap better though. weights help out a heap for Tsaritsa. HC has to give them all weight i don't like Tsaritsa's price either and looks to be overrated on a brisbane campaign and blew accordingly first up. does have some form of ability but hard to see that much improvement.

Kris Lees officially scared off by Winx. decides racing for second (100k) in a G1 is not as good as being second favourite in a handicap worth 90k.

this guy....

anyway Great Esteem still double accepted along with Vanbrugh. going to be a 5 horse race and 1 is Spiritjim.....

Craig better have his planning hat on because theres no way anything here is going to match her in the last 6 if there's 2 lengths covering the field.

Fair point he might be a mudder - did overlook that - but always happy to see them go to better ground than to worser (i.e. more confident of a horse replicating first time on good than first time on wet). RR also arguably went back a notch on the firm ground lto too.

The HC race I kind of ended up with him by default - Mighty Like got up for me at huge odds last time first up but this is a much classier race than that. Federal I don't want a bar of and the only other I considered was Lady Le Fay who will most likely get a mile back

What's he planning for?

I give Chetwood a big chance of rolling Le Romain at Newcastle anyway, I personally don't have a hell of a lot between them ability wise and Chetwood gets a 5kg weight advantage on him.
