The standard of the league has improved ten fold the last 5 years. Weickhardt & Cooke to Cheltenham also huge ins for SFNL

Perhaps the standard in "general" however I'm certain the St Pauls team of 2011/13 would have trounced the 2018 team (no disrespect to them) as would the St Kilda City team of 07/09. The main issue was whilst there was usually 2 - 3 top teams, the rest of Div 1 wasn't great so now it seems there's a lot more evenness across the board which is great for the competition. Whether the points system has any impact on this is also a consideration.

How do you reckon Highett will go next season?

Depends on recruits. Based on what i saw first hand they will be around 6th for mine. But they work hard and are a tight unit so wouldn't be surprised if they snuck into the top 5 and played finals first year. St Pauls, Dingley, Mordi & EM all ahead of them

The Gilbee effect would be working wonders for the club - great investment even though it wouldn't be costing the club all that much. Well done Port Colts. Would Jase Perkins be one of those players? could build a team around a power forward in this comp

p.s. Great to have you posting again
Same the thebont said mate except the Perkins bit I haven’t heard that

A ruckman coming across with Taylor and Sutcliffe as well from west meadows... Perkins deal is done and a 1 pointer as well along with Taylor and Sutcliffe. A couple more on the way as well.. port will be the big improver in 2019.

EDFL Div 1 Ruck in the team of the year

Couple big losses at StPauls. BnF winner Murfett off to the country and Gilder to Chelsea Heights.
