SFNL Div 1 2021

Definitely 2013 pricing I agree, i guess it was more to demonstrate the ratio of revenue vs expenses and where it comes from.

And yes 2013 pricing but everything would have increased proportionately, not just expenses but revenue also.

The SFNL will definitely take a hit if no crowds allowed whatsoever, i guess it all comes down to what kind of financial position they are in and what costs they could cut to make it work.

There is a lot needed to make it all work I fully agree, but I don't think it's a lost cause.
Well 2 years ago they were owed $250k by clubs not paying their affiliation fees. They would have done extremely well to get half of this back.

That would paint a picture as to how the SFNL are going, on top of moving into RSEA park

You make a valid point. Let's wait and see I guess.

If another league opens up and SFL doesn't then I think a lot will just transfer just to have a kick of the footy

Hearing this morning the chances of season being cancelled is highly likely now, even on the media release of “AFL VIC return to train”.
The demands on local clubs to meet the strict COVID expectations (pretty much in line with elite level AFL/NRL) is just beyond reasonable.
- cleaning shower and change room facilities after every training,
- insuring ALL equipment is cleaned and sterilized during training, etc etc
Whilst this might sound pretty simple, it is done by club volunteers, who already do a number of other tasks around the club. Furthermore, it looks like the options to play finals would only be for the Seniors (No Reserves or U18s) to allow for greater spectator attendance.
Many clubs have already indicated the desire to forgo 2020 and start preparation for 2021, with the exception of strong list clubs who are in prime position to compete deep into finals.
Many clubs have also indicated to the league that sponsorship $ is nearly extinct and player payments would be near impossible, therefore fearing players may jump ship elsewhere to chase coin.
In the ever changing environment, anything could happen but inside word is season is done, sadly!

For a minute there, I thought you also were going to suggest that every player was to be tested prior to the season starting......😉

With further decision delays now on the drawing board I just can’t see the season kicking of in June.
Rumour was if the season was to kick off in July the chances of it going ahead was extremely minimal.
No doubt would be talks between AFL Vic and Cricket Victoria to come to some sort of agreement for a later finish to the footy season and a delayed start to the cricket.
You are assuming the Councils will agree to all of this. They will effectively have to close down grounds and stop people from entering public parks. Then ensure the rooms are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected three times a week. They cannot rely on the clubs to do this. No after match drinks or functions, trainers will have to wear masks and gloves. etc etc.

Councils won’t clean the rooms or function rooms and it will be up to the clubs.
Also make sure the ovals are clean from any sort of rubbish
EG:Sports tape ,food scraps and other type of rubbish as if you don’t councils will kick you off the ground and rooms.
If your lucky the council May water water your ground before matches and after matches unless it’s raining while your playing.

*Coaches will have to take attendance at every training & game & disinfect footballs after use

So clubs with more than 3 teams will have to find a second ground to train on
If at anytime you want to submit a proposal that cannot work then always consult with council. Masters at blocking anything which involves them having to do actual work, and not affect their income stream. They have already been lobbying Comrade Andrews for a 5-10% increase in council rates. Pick up the rubbish, maintain the ovals, keep the streets clean and make sure meals on wheels works. Last year Council had a 25.42 mill surplus but failed to finish numerous projects like footpaths, buildings etc etc. God knows how many people they employ...Any chance they could REDUCE some of the rates?????

I don't get the fixation around bars/canteen. League fees could be reduced, players can still play for free and we would get by with a season.

Granted it was 5 - 6 years ago but here was a breakdown of fees from 2013-14 season at St Pauls:

SFL - $36k
Council - 2k
Insurance - 1k
Trainers - $7k
Volunteer/Waterboy remuneration - $1k
Equipment/Uniforms - $2.6k
Medical Supplies - $5k
Misc - $2k

Total: $56.6k

I've not included things like Bar purchases, canteen purchases, player payments/awards as these could be done without for season 2020.

Revenue alone from Sponsorship was $39k, with $15k players fees/subs and $14k from Social events

Total: $68k

I've left out bar/canteen revenue as again assuming we won't have crowds. For those interested it contributed about $28k for the year from 9 home games in a year where it rained a heap so crowd numbers were lower than normal.

I guess the point i'm trying to make, is that I still think revenue from Sponsorship, Player Subs, Social events etc could potentially still cover the basic costs.

You'd think the SFL would try reduce their fees by removing any unnecessary costs so this could only help, and i know players like myself would happily tip in some extra $$ on subs if it mean't we got a season out of it..

Anyway, guess we will find out in the next month as to what's going on.
Makes you wonder what the SFL does with all of that money...

Think you’ll find most clubs are training
Apparently 30,000 protesters marching on Saturday is not a threat according to Chairman Dan.
250 people meet in doors at Cedar Meats, no problem for Chairman Dan, but if you God forbid if you open a pub to enjoy a beer. Put 20 footballers together and you could have an outbreak.
It is our own fault for listening to Chairman Dan.

My Vanuatu based accountant just fell off his chair.

9 home games
seniors
Field - 2 x $150
Boundary - 2 x 90
Goals - 2 x $80

Resies -
Field 2 x $110
Boundary 2 x $60
Goals 2 x $60

19s
Field 2 x $80
Boundary 2 x $45
Goals 2 x $45

That is $12 960, then you have netball, jnrs, finals.. would add up very quickly.
