Port colts, great recruitment. Really good faces for the league.

what’s the attraction down at the colts? They are becoming a club that are finding big names with a few years left in them.

- Deluca, mcharg, Sutcliffe, sondergold, Bruin, Perkins and king

The league is getting stronger by the year.

Who kicks more goals Jake King or Dan Connors??

Both huge gets for their clubs and will create a fair amount of buzz for round 1 opener under lights at the Peanut farm.. I am hearing St Kilda City going quietly about their business with some good strategic recruiting. A forward setup with ex hawthorn & Frankston player Shem Tatupu, ex Richmond Dan Connors & former 100 goal kicker with Queenscliffe Daniel Degois will be very tough to stop..

Is there any truth to the rumours east Malvern are losing a lot of their main ball users and struggling to find players to fill those spots?

doveton down to div 3 and districts stay up in div 1. Interesting 🤔

Port Colts look like early season favourites with their recruits. Cheltenham seem to have maintained and topped up. Dingley quiet but noticed a lot of their middle aged guns have found VFL homes.

city still going about their stuff quietly. I seen a thread on WRFL that quick from deer park has been in discussions, for memory he is a ex city captain and a 1 pointer. Not sure how strong these rumours are.

Have oakleigh picked up enough to be competitive in 2020, I seen they lost Mullen. He was their star.

any news over the christmas?

the rumours/clearances i have seen are:

port melbourne colts: IN- McHarg, Perkins and Bruin (deer park) OUT: Harris, de libera and cathcart?

Dingley: IN- Hansen (city) terech (seaford) wilson (murrumbeena)

St Pauls: IN: carroll (city) OUT: Hunt not much news out of the kennel

east Malvern: OUT: robbo (coach), Carey, Sumner *hearing more outs but nothing solid*

Bentleigh IN: Keilty, hudson OUT: nil at this stage

City: quiet at the farm (this is very unusual - expecting noise soon) out: hansen (dingley), carroll (st pauls), hartung (SANFL)

Highett: have heard nothing for the doggies

Lots of ins for the Dogs, BandF winner from 2018 returns plus others, things with Hunt are still up in the air.

Lets look at predictions so far. Not in any order;
Top 5 Dingley, Port, Cheltenham, City and St Pauls. Just out E. Malvern, Bentleigh..
Bottom 3 Oakleigh, Highett and Mordy. ??

Contenders
Port Colts - Have spent the $ and come in with all the pressure
Dingley - Won it last year and have improved with the acquisition of Cam Hansen, Horton Milne will be a huge loss though.
Chelt - Were not far away last year, Tate will be huge signing & have kept the list together so will go close.

Fighting for finals
Bentleigh - Played good footy last year and some good signings.
St Pauls - Always strong and in the hunt

Making up numbers
East Malvern -have lost Carey, Sumner, Sims & Lonergon so could fall away.
Mordi - Lost a few, picked up a few hard to see them improving much

Relegation scrap
Oakleigh - Going to be up against it, coming from a long way back but were not hopeless last year.
St Kilda City - have lost Purves, Hansen, Hartung, Grollo, Firebrace
Highett - Only 2 wins last year and havent picked up much.

very interesting, If this is the case It will be a clear 3 horse race (dingley, colts & cheltenham).

Away from those 3 who are we thinking maybe improvers for 2020.

East Malvern seem to have lost some of the core group (coach, Carey, sumner) as an onlooker this year, Carey was a force and they will struggle to find a replacement.

bentleigh are a team not many are talking about but from reports on their site they are picking up quite a few..

City, not much news out of there? Any reports? They have been moving along quietly for the first time in some years...

Anything else from St. Paul’s, highett or doveton?

Doveton gone, highett nothing battling for relegation and st pauls to choke again this year

After reading the comments on St Pauls coach, I had a quick look at the Home and Away over the last 3 season (I think he has had 3 seasons up) I found that , "Out of 3 x 18 game seasons the following results are in wins;

St Pauls 41 wins out of 54 games and 1 premiership

Dingley (under Paul Morwood) 38 wins and 2 premierships'

Mordialloc and East Malvern 34 each.
Cheltenham 31
Bentleigh 28.

Not bad in any terms.

Great post. I played one season under Jase at Doggies and he's one of the best coaches I've played under. Has a knack at connecting with the younger players and got the most out of a young 2017/2018 list that not many rated. Those who know football know that he's a great coach.
