I had a chat with an ex league but current club executive committee member today and he has suggested that the league has given Division 3 newbies Lyndhurst Lightning the sole catering deal for the interleague matches in addition to free league fees for their 3 Netball sides......what did Port Colts get? Don't say nothing because it's what Canizzo does as he did with Keysborough and is chasing South Melbourne districts to come across, apparently they were a former club of the SFL about 15 years ago?

Does it really matter? At the end of the day the competition is better off. South Districts were in the SFL, and had a great rivalry with Port Colts. They may have even played a practice match pre season. I seriously doubt SD are in the position to come back to the SFL. They were seriously struggling for numbers last season. If they could get Beaumaris back into the league, now that would be a huge coup!

and what incentives did he give your club (Port Colts) to come across??..come on, you know the facts on this so why not 'balls up' and post it on here instead of crying to rally Div 2 and 3 clubs into action regarding Lyndhurst. I hope South Melbourne come back in so Port Colts do not have an exclusive area

Sorry Bounce. I'm more of an EFL fan......I played many years at Noble Park. You should follow it then tell people what you see, they'll call you a visionary because it happens in the EFL then 3-5 years it's in the SFL.
I respect the SFL for what it is, but it's by far the lowest standard of metropolitan football, but people have to play in whatever league they can.

Are there any ex AFL players in the SFL yet?? I remember Ezra Poyas being the last......

I'm a bit slow on the type.

I can't recall any sides leaving the SFL because it was too hard, it's the other way around Noble Park and Balwyn dominated before they left.

Clubs join the SFL because other leagues are too hard Dingley, Keysborough, Port Colts, Clayton, South Waverley/Sandown and even Brooklyn.

No clubs start from scratch in any other competition except for the SFL because it's too hard in their area South Mornington, Lyndhurst, Southern Dragons, Carrum-Patterson Lakes.

Are there any ex AFL players in the SFL yet?? I remember Ezra Poyas being the last......

Do the SFL still play interleague against the bottom 4 divisions in the VAFA?

A fish rots from the head, it started with David Cloke in the 90's and Canizzo is a salesman, polishing a turd and selling it as gold to people seeking an bargain.

As I said, I respect the SFL for what it is.......

What a load of crap.

WHat, you just woke up one morning and decided to set up an account on big footy to state how good Port Colts are and then have a crack at the CEO and Lyndhurst even though your not involved in the league. Give us a break!

We may be feral on here but apart from Falc10 we are not stupid.

May not be the best league but 5000 players and netballer's couldn't give a stuff

No, you are involved at Port Colts and have just found out that Lyndhurst negotiated a better deal than your club. Get over it Kev.

Port Colts were always going to go well in SFL div2. They were pretty successful in the WRFL div1 up to a few years ago so surely are a team that should be in div1 most likely next year. Always had loyal supporters just struggling with juniors in that area but I'm sure they will rebuild and be a strong SFL club in coming years.

Beaumaris would dominate in19s, reserves and seniors, no one could challenge them because they have ex-AFL players. In all honesty SFL should focus on weaker VAFA clubs around the area; Oakleigh Amo's, old mentonians, Chadstone, even St.Bede's at a stretch, but the comp isn't anywhere near strong enough for Beaumaris.

I can assure you he's not from Port Colts

Rofl.

St Bedes moving to the SFL? That's the funniest thing I've ever seen on these boards.

Despite being in B grade, they are still a powerhouse of the Ammo's, they've been continually gutted over the past 5-6 years since Beveridge left by SFL, EFL, EDFL and MPNFL teams and still remain strong. They've got ex-players and juniors in pretty much every top side in South East Melbourne.

They still are one of the largest junior clubs in the country as well. With 3-4 teams of every age group and usually have 2-3 u/19 sides. Chelt Panthers and Bentleigh juniors, two regionally very strong junior clubs, a vast proportion of u/17's feed into St Bedes' u/19 program.

They are also one of the most financially stable in the VAFA and have a pretty big supporter base.

It'd be like putting Noble back in the comp.

St Bede's is a stronger club than Beaumaris.

True they would be hard to beat, because they are a very well structured club, but they are not unbeatable. Face facts, they have struggled in A grade and been found wanting. Granted I am pretty certain that there not too many SFL teams that would survive playing on that bloody ground of theirs. I used to get a stitch doing a warm up lap. It is the biggest ground I have ever seen at Park Footy level.

Not every club has a pokies venue in the social club or a chain of brothels to fund their footy clubs. Something about fish rotting? NP hasn't exactly set the world on fire in the past few seasons. Added to that, you have had a monopoly on the Eastern Suburbs. Southern is wedged with so many Ammo clubs in the area. The SFL made some big mistakes in the 90's, but they are coming back slowly and methodically. Let's see how the EFL survives under the points system. Didn't the Ammos beat the EFL by 46 points in the Metro Final?

St bedes reserves would be half of the sfl div 1 senior sides

Correct as those players are on $60k for 1 hour work a week from a club sponsor. Thats how stuffed the VAFA is that they allow this to go on. Pity they dont have contracts in AMMO world to show how pathetic their AMMO ethos is.

How does Beaumaris get the money for these AFL players

Port V Highett this will be a test for both sides and looks like it will be a good game
Ive heard Highett have a fast smaller side Do they play their home ground well? Is it a good size ground?
Was the score correct that Highett kicked 4 goals 23 points last week?

Some other games that will be intersting will be
Chelsea V Hampton
Skye(at home) V Caulfield

Highetts ground is relatively small, if that was what they kicked last week I hope they have their kicking boots on tomorrow.

Hard game today at Turner street Highett play there ground well. They came home strong in the last with the wind and hit the post twice, hats off to them. We had two players short from half way thru the second So it was a great effort by our boys to come away with the points
The reserves had a nice victory too
There supporters are very vocal lol It was a good atmosphere
Looking forward to playing them at Murphy's Oval
Bit of an upset Heatherton going down to keysie
Seems really hard to get a feel for the sides so far lots of mixed results
