heard lyndale struggling to get 10 to training any truth? and that 3/4 of the senior side is gone?

Na mate like every other club we have 40 on the track and the ball doesn't touch the ground.

Lyndhurst are horrible, don't know how anyone can celebrate a div 4 flag! As irrelevant as AFLW! standard as good as halftime auskick
and what makes you think they wanted to play div 4??? the league did no favors to them CPL and Lyndale. Dandenong and Sandown are the only ones happy with div 4

Those sides wouldn’t have beaten any side still in div 3 for the whole year. The split is the best thing for them.

Won't say that we are entirely happy but in the end we understood what the league desired and like all clubs we want the league to grow and improve.
The real unhappy clubs are those in div 3 that wanted 14 sides in. Trying to avoid Hampton Park and co twice while getting their easy kills.

I’ve heard from a couple of different people thatArmansin and Isaacs have committed to Clayton

the lack of player movements from sandown and dandenong you must wonder how long they can keep going

Footy in that area is in deep trouble. Those suburbs have changed significantly, and the Doveton/Dandenong simply cannot sustain 4 clubs. On top of that the neighbouring suburbs are awash with clubs, with many of those also battling to stay afloat.

I’m hearing that the SEFL Doveton are also in serious trouble and will struggle to field reserves this year. Those who have been around a while will remember them as an absolute powerhouse club and I never thought I would see the day when they would be in this position. Meanwhile the clubs further east in the growth corridors (Beacy, Narre, Berwick) just get stronger and stronger.

SEFL will likely break apart at the end of this year with the remaining clubs going in different directions. While not ideal it may be time for some struggling clubs in the GD area to get on the front foot and consider some mergers.

From all reports St Johns in the ammos are very healthy. Good numbers, 19s coming through and they have found their niche in the middle grades of the VAFA. While personally I would find the travel a huge turn off maybe that might be an option?

Good post.

The Doves will bounce back pretty quickly once they land in a league where they can compete. Strong club. They’ve been hit by Hampton park this offseason which hasn’t helped.
St Johns seem pretty stable and my club, the Eagles are growing this year so it’s not all doom and gloom.

I agree there is a huge issue in that area from sandown through to dandy and Doveton. It’s been ignored by The afl for years and Footy is no longer the most popular sport.

I know some conversations have been had between some of the clubs re the future but it’s a very difficult thing to do.

I’d like to see the league help shape the future in that area but I don’t think they really understand the Footy landscape in those suburbs at the moment

its the same in the Moorabbin and Hampton sandy blackrock chelt thay have diffictey in numbers for years

Have to disagree Peter. Some clubs in that area (Beaumaris, Hampton Rovers, East Sandy, East Brighton etc) have so many juniors’ teams that they can’t fit them all in on the grounds they have.

Granted that a few senior clubs in that vicinity have had some tough times but that is because the local kids are spoilt for choice. So many clubs (including some old boy VAFA teams) with options to play a higher standard in other competitions.

A totally different scenario to clubs in the Dandenong area as the Bayside/Kington demographic still supports a transition towards AFL, cricket etc.
