Its a strange angle. By most of your supporters own admission, he is best in a good team of which you guys just might be, if you play your cards right.
He'll hopefully be top 5, but he's not a bnf winning type player anyway. It's really irrelevant

Maybe like the last time you had a bucketload of picks in 2004.

1. Deledio
4. Tambling
12. Meyer
16. Pattison
20. Polo
That is proof that draft picks can be a lottery which is my point of we should be getting Freo's top picks ion 9,10 so it's our best possible case to get the best players in the draft possible.

The only reason the conversations are even taking place about Shai to Freo and Rioli to Gold Coast are Richmond know the position they're in rebuild wise. They need top picks and 18 year olds infinitely more than they need top players in their mid 20s. If Richmond didn't think trading these players was in their best interests, they'd just say "lol nope".

The most similar team list-position wise to Richmond in the entire AFL is...West Coast. West Coast have the exact same need to prioritise top picks. The fact some Richmond fans are wilfully ignoring this basic fact and imagining that West Coast trading pick 3 in a Shai Bolton pursuit is a real possibility is hilarious.
you said top picks and avoid pick 3.

tell me who is Shai quality at 9, 10 etc... in this draft??? and known quantity?? No Harley Reid's in this draft

eagles land bolton, baker this year then warner next year. Reid, Bolton, Warner is a very tempting combination, all high impact damaging mids coupled with Allen and Waterman

Turns out they do, sooooooooooo!

Also relevant to position played, 90% small forward in a team with no KPF. Please atleast try to be less silly.
Picks are commensurate to relevant position, not an elite mid, not an elite forward. Pick 9 and Future 2nd would be fair normally but 9 and 16 sounds about right due to current contract.

Just hitting his prime now, reality is, his best footy is possibly ahead of him. He could win one IMO, if used mid / forward rather than exclusively fwd with a splattering of centre bounces.

this is the problem,

Shai, known star is better value so we keep him, that simple versus iffy's at 9 and 16 or 10

Finn O'sullivan is not getting to 9, 10 or 11, 12 after bidding

Would you like me to pick apart the draftees at your proposed range per Phantom's??

Fact is Shai is the best at his uniqueness and durable so far, cannot be replaced. If we trade him we are trading away a irreplaceable player in terms of combined class, effect, potency, entertainment and versatility as well as complimentary piece.

As much as you talk up your players, no one is on you list like Shai, especially factoring in his evasiveness

I disagree, he is an elite mid/fwd - worth their weight in gold and rare as hens teeth.

That said, I agree, 9 & 16 is about right (unpopular on our board), unless we pay some chunky salary contribution.

All good, let him be unhappy and play VFL or trade him to a team that has the capital now.

Don't feed the troll :thumbsu:
I think Shai is quite a clever operator, he will will not be rattled like others over circumstance and I am impressed by his maturity and consideration

Footy wise Shai could have his finger quite close to the pulse which is why he is unfazed and a calm customer

it is these perceived attributes I have of Shai that leads me to believe Shai can still stick at RFC and still work for Shai and RFC in terms of eventually winning more premierships down the track. Shai I think is no fool, does not behave that way anyway to me

West Coast and Richmond are on pretty much the same time line. The difference btwn Warner and Bolton is simple: Warner is 3 years younger, and young enough to justify the move.

Much in the same way that Richmond believe that the 200+ games they can get out of 18 year olds are more valuable than the 100ish they can get out of Rioli and Bolton while holding them to contract, West Coast will believe the exact same thing. Shai's best remaining years do little for a rebuilding team that is entertaining trading their only good key back under 30. 5 good players don't win you a flag.

I think you overate Freo's position and under rate West Coast and Richmond's position. For lateral moves can shift things up quickly

West Coast has Harley Reid, Freo does not and Fyfe is towards the end despite his Brownlow efforts. No Pavlich's at Freo

currently

I get your probably one eyed which is fair enough
