F@@ken joke, definitely not a convert. The Dees got smashed, Pies stopped half way through the 2nd. if anything showed us today that every team footy GM should be fired for passing of D Swan at pick 53. The rest is just stupid blaming Bond.
Clark would have been paid 750k, Buddy Franklin is on 800k!! Pav sandi on 600k (with Vets) Technically he would be the highest player in our cap so Bond did exactly the right thing for our club and told him to walk.

Take pick 16 27 over Clark any day. Better question, would you pay pick 12 for Mitch Clark? No. Brisbane are laughing.

Frankly, prefer to take the kids. Just cant see us getting up in the Pav/Sandi era, and so I like that they are looking to create a very strong midfield and thinking longer term. At one stage the defence was looking like we were bare for talls and they fixed that pretty quickly, to the point that one of our up and comers cant even crack it, and its seen as our area of strength. The early part of this season has been marked by a mountain of experimenting with different players and set ups in attack by the coaching staff, but I would expect that towards the final third of the year it should settle into our most effective line up. Clark, yeh he's doing well at Melbourne. But he has had what, 10 weeks in his career as a decent forward? Not worth $800 000 or whatever it was. And definitely not worth trading away our best draft picks for. Davis, well no other club seemed interested, so probably a good call.

Given free agency is coming into effect, why would you overpay in draft picks last year for a player when you can get one for free at the end of this year?

In the games I've seen, he's basically left one on one by the opposition because they back themselves to strangle Melbourne's midfield from delivering the ball inside 50 with any effectiveness.

Any reasonable main target should average around two goals a game if he's playing one on one. Richmond basically played Rance on Pav as a one on one all Saturday, and despite Pav being in a stretch of subpar form, Pav walked away with 6 goals.

It's the same as how Ablett averages more possessions and contested possessions at the Suns than he did at Geelong, even when he is tagged. It's because the rest of the Suns midfield is so bad, the opposition doesn't set up anywhere near as defensively as they did against Geelong, giving Ablett more opportunities to win the ball.

Definitely agree.
He was coming home on an agreed wage. He changed his mind. For more cash than we were prepared to pay.

Cest La Vie...

Agreed.

Was it really a great decision for Mitch? The question has to be asked how Mitch is going to enjoy the next 3-4 years with the Demons?

No matter what the cash, getting smashed every week and possibly merging is hardly a career to write home about.

Clark has kicked 8 more goals than Pavlich? Big deal, he's entrenched in the forward line and their only target.

Sure we could use him in our side but was asking too much. We'll be the better for it in the long run...

Sorry but that's just wank. If you are the only buyer for something why would you overpay?

Some people seem to think that we were the only ones playing hard ball. Brisbane were asking for our 1st round pick and Zac Clarke before trade week. It was always going to be a deal done on the last few days, especially because we spent the 1st half of the week trying to do the O'Meara super deal.

it was a stroke of genius having stynes present clark with the jumper and with jim's old number. i think that alone turned him around and helped straighten his head out. you watch/read him talking about the experience and it's obvious stynes had an enormous effect on clark.

i have no regrets we didn't mortgage our future for him. he was a flake at the time and was happy to rim us by heading to the dees after schwabby had a quiet word to him at the 11th hour. in the end it's probably worked out best for clark, but he's forever tied himself to the dees, their basket-case club and the final portentous gesture of their late spiritual leader. dude can't afford to stuff it up.
